Wedding Planning Checklist Choosing your flowers is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning, and your florist should be one of the first people you consult. But, before you get started, use our step-by-step, Wedding Planning Checklist to help you prepare, and transform your vision into a beautiful reality.
Step 1: Because flowers are an integral part of the ambiance of any wedding, big or small, brides typically spend about 10-20% of their overall wedding budget on flowers. Use the list below to be certain that you do not leave anyone or anything out when deciding your floral budget. The bride’s bouquet Groom and Groomsmen Boutonnieres Bridesmaid bouquets Mother's corsages Flower girl flowers Ceremony arrangements and rental equipment, and Fresh flowers for your reception hall
Step 2: Don’t fall in love with a floral theme until you speak with a qualified florist. A 25% increase in your overall floral budget can be avoided by choosing flowers that are “in season”. Qualified florists discern how to source many varieties of flowers from various wholesalers all throughout the year; however, using “in season” flowers insures you get the best quality and freshest available options. Therefore, if you must have those exotic lilies in Modern Bride Magazine, save pictures and bring them with you to your consulting meeting. Having advanced notice on hard to source flowers gives us plenty of time to notify our distributors of your needs and will help ensure we are prepared to meet your expectations!

Step 3: When it's time to meet with your florist, key details you need to have for the initial consultation are: Date of your wedding A color scheme (bring fabric swatches if available) Your overall floral budget Venue location Reception space The number of attendants The number of invitees Pictures of floral ideas that you like
I remember when I was in school, they would ask, 'What are
you going to be when you grow up?' and then you'd have to draw
a picture of it. I drew a picture of myself as a bride.
