We hope to be able to accommodate 30 boys and girls, between the age of 5 and 15, who have intellectual and physical disabilities.

The Medical Support… Medical facilities of the highest standard are available at the College. We have registered nurses on duty each shift and doctors on call 24 hours a day.

Our Sponsors . . . The success of our camp is the result of the support of many generous people who contribute in many different ways. We are particularly grateful to all our major sponsors who contribute financial assistance. To run the camp is expensive and we appreciate their involvement.

Special thanks to: The Sony Foundation

The Companions . . . We pride ourselves on our choice of Companions. Each year, about 150 students from Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, Monte Sant’ Angelo and Loreto apply for positions as personal Companions. Each applicant is interviewed and selected with great care. These students consider the experience as a privilege and learn so much about children with disabilities and themselves. Along with the nurses, the Companions are suppor ted in their role by a number of teaching staff from the various schools.

Caring for very special children ‘The idea that we are all in this thing called “life” together was brought home. I also realised how easy it would be to shut out those who are not as fortunate or able, and what a challenge it is to actually take the step of giving of your time, energy and skills.’ (Companion) ‘The Companions who looked after these children 24 hours a day for four days need to be recognised . . . I was overwhelmed by the commitment of those teenagers who cared for those very special children.’ (Nurse)
