A native of California, Isabella Speedon ’18 believes it was fate that brought her to Saint Mary’s. Her desire to work for the FBI propelled her to double major in sociology and psychology. She is also a member of the varsity golf team and dances with Notre Dame Tap Company. Isabella recognizes the impact of her Saint Mary’s experience and how it will propel her into her next steps.

I don’t think I could be where I am academically without coming to a small school. It’s one thing to be known by a professor, but to have a personal relationship with each of them is unique.

when A CAMPUS becomes YOUR HOME Envision a place where people never hold back.

Where accomplished, passionate, confident women express themselves, share their dreams, push each other, support each other, encourage each other, are inspired, and strive to inspire. That’s when a college becomes more than a community. It becomes a home.

SAINT MARY’S AND NOTRE DAME

We take a lot of pride in the special relationship shared between Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame. Our worlds are integrated in a powerful way, so that you can enjoy the academic and social experiences of one of the nation’s most respected women’s colleges, while also taking part in Notre Dame’s legendary traditions — from cheering on the Fighting Irish, to joining the Notre Dame marching band, to writing for The Observer, to taking classes and attending dances and concerts. THE RING

No matter where you are in the world, you’re likely to spot the ring. The iconic design is steeped in tradition. It represents the legacy of our sisterhood as well as individual achievement and pride. The ring connects Belles in airports, boardrooms, and even during job interviews. Networking becomes easy. Strangers become sisters.

#BellesRing

What sisterhood means to me is the love, truth, and honor between girls who are not blood related, but who couldn’t be closer if they were.

The women Taylr encountered on the Saint Mary’s dance team, the Sisters of Nefertiti, in her classes, and in her residence hall have become her sisters. ADRIENNE HUSCHKE ‘16 communicative sciences & disorders

Leadership means something a little different at Saint Mary’s. It goes deeper. The way Adrienne sees it, leadership is about confidence and assurance in yourself. It’s about sticking to your morals, believing in your principles, and guiding others with the kind of respect and grace that inspires them to be their very best.

TEACHERS AND MENTORS

Leadership doesn’t happen all on its own. Look at those who achieved their goals in life, and you’ll find that they had amazing mentors guiding them along the way. That’s how our faculty approach teaching. They will truly know you — your strengths, your dreams, your character — and devote themselves to empowering you to succeed.

Here, I’ve become a humbled leader. Instead of seeing leadership as a power position, I look at it as an opportunity to create an environment in which those I lead can achieve their fullest potential, be the best they can be.

WHEN A CALLING BECOMES A CAREER

Google. Disney. MSNBC. The Peace Corps. The United States Congress. Hollywood. This is just a small handful of career destinations in which you’ll find Saint Mary’s graduates leading and living their dreams. For each of them, it started as a calling. At Saint Mary’s, they learned how to transform it into a career. Take a look at what some of our more recent graduates have achieved. REGISTERED NURSE AT CLEVELAND CLINIC — Maria Molnar ’17

when YOUR SPIRIT IS CALLED TO LEAD Leadership is a mindset.

It takes confidence, character, compassion, and conviction. It takes a clear vision and a strong voice. Leading is about putting yourself out there fighting for what you know is right and showing the world the difference. Because it takes great women to lead.

when learning is life changing It’s really not far from the head to the heart. That is the connection that awakens within us the kind of faith and concern for a troubled world that drives us to action, dares us to feel, and puts the passion into compassion. Our students and faculty change the world by being faithful and responsive. Because we know that justice and respect for human dignity aren’t to be discovered, but to be achieved.
