Computer Sciences Computer science majors at Saint Peter’s University develop specialized knowledge and skills highly valued by employers. Coursework emphasizes applying theoretical foundations to the latest tech developments and prepares you for careers in government, business, industry and education, or graduate school. Plus, you’ll explore topics that are driving today’s ever-expanding tech economy. Several of our students have gone on to have successful careers and many take on internships at companies like Google, UPS and JPMorgan to name a few.

Concentrations Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: AI is taking the tech world by storm by pushing developers to create computer systems to complete tasks that would normally require a human brain, like decision-making and translating languages. AI and Machine learning languages are used in industries such energy, finance, health care, education, transportation and more.

Computer Information Systems: Computer Information Systems applies technology in the needs of businesses. In this concentration, you’ll put your technical skills to work in a business setting by learning how to work with companies’ IT systems to solve operations issues. Cybersecurity: Ready to defend and protect networks against cyber attacks? Students in the Cybersecurity concentration learn the latest security theory and applications to prepare for a career in a growing and in-demand field. Computer Science: This option is designed for those who wish to study the internal architecture of computers and the theory of programming. Any student who wishes to go to graduate school in Computer Science should take this option.

Computer Science Club Undergraduate & graduate students participate in the club sponsored hackathons, CTF (Capture The Flag), Cyber Security bootcamps and workshops for coding, résumé building, Raspberry Pi projects and network for job opportunities. The Club also brings speakers to campus and hosts a variety of events for students to learn new skills such as programming languages for cyber security, gaming, ethical hacking and blockchain technology. Technology The Computer Science major has several labs equipped with state-of-the-art computers running the latest operating systems. These labs give students the opportunity to work alongside faculty on a variety of projects for the University community and coursework. Lab activities include hands-on projects and assignments that provide real-world experience. New Artificial Intelligence Lab Completed Fall 2020, the Artificial Intelligence Lab is equipped with six workstations with enough hardware power to do machine learning projects and a variety of research. Cyber Security Center With our state-of-the-art Cyber Security Center designed with the National Cyber Security Center of Excellence, you get hands-on experience that will set you apart after graduation.
