Physics Studying physics challenges the imagination and yields big discoveries that shape our comprehension of the world around and beyond us. The physics major offers flexible options to prepare you for graduate study in fields such as physics, astrophysics, medicine and engineering. Or you may choose to go straight into professional practice as a teacher or physicist in industrial, governmental or institutional settings.

STEM Grants TREX Grant The TREX program is an opportunity for students in STEM majors to be in a paid internship program that also counts for academic credit. Selected students receive up to $1,500 while participating in an unpaid internship, opportunity for résumé-boosting hands-on-experience and a multiple mentor network to support them during the internship application process and beyond. INVEST Scholars Program Want to teach science to the next generation of students? INVEST Scholars Program prepares SPU students for a teaching career through partnerships with high need school districts. Selected students can receive up to $20,000 in scholarships in their junior and senior years. INVEST Scholars also participate in a paid four-week summer Immersion Program, work alongside a math or science professor as a learning assistant and have opportunities to work as a tutor in high-need school districts.

Society of Physics Students The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional physics association explicitly designed for students. The only requirement to join SPS is an interest in Physics. SPS holds regular meetings during the academic year.
