Apply for Financial Aid
If you want your child to be considered for any type of scholarship or grant, either need-based or non-needbased, start the process by making sure your child checks “yes” in answer to the question “Do you wish to apply for financial aid?” on the official Application for Admissions to Saint Vincent College. Then file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Saint Vincent College Federal Code number is 003368. You should also file the financial aid grant application forms required by your state of residence. Scholarships & Grants As well as federal and state assistance, Saint Vincent College offers a variety of scholarships and grants. In addition to financial need, factors such as high school academic performance, planned area of study, extracurricular activities, community service, church affiliation and sports participation will play a role in our decision-making process. We’re Eager to Help If your son or daughter is considering attending Saint Vincent College, rest assured that he or she has already taken a very important step toward ensuring a successful, rewarding future. And quite frankly, a Saint Vincent College education is an incredible value considering the enormous returns your child can expect to reap as one of our graduates. However, we do understand that a private school education of this caliber isn’t exactly inexpensive, and now you’re faced with the age-old dilemma faced by so many parents of college-age students: how are you going to pay for it? That’s where the Saint Vincent College Financial Aid Office comes in. If your child is accepted here, we’ll do everything we can to make sure he or she ends up here. IN other words, we’re not only here to help, we’re eager to help.
Scholarships & Grants Academic Scholarships
• Scholarships range from $5,000 to $16,000 per year for four years. • High school record, class rank and SAT scores considered.
Leadership Grants
Students active in extracurricular activities are eligible.
• Interested students should list their extracurricular activities on their applications for admission. • Grants range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year for four years.
Benedictine Grants
• Students who are graduates of Benedictine high schools, or who are registered members of parishes staffed by Benedictine monks of Saint Vincent Archabbey are eligible. • Grant is in the amount of $2,000 per year for four years.
Other Financial Aid Opportunities Federal Stafford Loans All students may borrow directly from a bank, credit union, savings and loan association, or other participating lender. The loan is guaranteed and insured by the Federal Government. The maximum a student may borrow is: freshman, $5,500 per year; sophomore, $6,500 per year; junior and senior, $7,500 per year. The interest rate will not be more than 6.8 percent.
Plus Loans Parents may apply for an additional loan of up to the cost of attendance of the student from a bank, credit union, savings and loan association, or other participating lender. The interest rate will not exceed 8.5%. Payments can be deferred while the student is in school and for a six-month grace period after graduation.
Catholic High School Graduate Grants A grant of $2,000 is extended to graduates of Roman Catholic high schools who enroll as full-time students in the fall semester immediately following their high school graduation. Renewal requires continuous full-time enrollment during the academic years following initial enrollment.
Transfer Student Awards
• $2,000 grants are awarded to students who are transferring to Saint Vincent College from other institutions. • Transfer students are also eligible for consideration of academic scholarships and general college grants.
International Student Grants
• Students who are not citizens of the United States and have demonstrated financial need are eligible. • A Declaration of Finances form must be filed with the Office of Admission and Financial Aid no later than April 1st. • Awards range up to $7,000 per year.
Deferred Payment Plan Saint Vincent College offers a plan for tuition deferment which is a low-cost, flexible system for paying educational expenses out of current income through regularly scheduled monthly payments. Instead of a single payment due at the beginning of each semester, a student may budget educational expenses over a period of ten months.
Alternative Loans Parents or students may apply for these private loans available through a number of lenders. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more details.

Competitive Scholarships Academic Excellence - Wimmer Scholarships These scholarships are based on a competitive examination of general knowledge given on campus each November. Students must be high school seniors who are nominated by their principal or guidance counselor for high academic achievement. The top finisher will be offered a full tuition, room and board scholarship for four years. The second through fifth high scorers will be offered awards in the amount of full tuition per year for four years.
Alex G. McKenna Economic and Policy Scholarship Award This scholarship is based on a competitive essay which is collected at an event at Saint Vincent College once each year. The competition is open to high school seniors. Registration forms can be obtained through the Office of admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four year. One award is given annually.
Biology - Fr. Maximilian Duman, O.S.B. Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various aspects of general high school biology given on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
Business Administration Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various areas of high school business administration given on campus once per year. Open to high school seniors. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
Chemistry - Fr. Bertin Emling, O.S.B. Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination given on campus. The examination will be held once each year. This examination will cover problem solving and high school mathematics. The competition is open to high school seniors. Registration forms can be obtained through the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
English Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various areas of high school English given on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
Fine Arts Scholarship Open to high school seniors. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
History Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various areas of high school history given on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
Mathematics Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various areas of high school mathematics given on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
Music - Gabriel Burda Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive audition held on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors who intend to major in music at Saint Vincent College. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. The award is for $4,000 per year for four years. One award is given annually.
Physics - Fr. Roland L. Heid, O.S. B. Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various aspects of high school physics given on campus once each year. Political Science Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various areas of high school political science given on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors. Theology Scholarship This scholarship is based on a competitive examination of various aspects of religious studies given on campus once each year. Open to high school seniors.
