In other related golf news, Dorado Beach Resort & Club will once again be the home for the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica’s Puerto Rico Classic October 7th - October 13th on the East Course. Last year’s inaugural tournament was an incredible success and we are honored to welcome some of the world’s finest young golfers as they compete for one of the most prestigious championships on the PGA LatinoAmerica tour. On behalf of Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, I want to remind our members that the hotel pool located at the arrival building is for the exclusive use of Ritz-Carlton Reserve hotel guests. Members are welcome to dine at the Positivo Bar after 5pm and are always welcome at the Encanto Beach Club for sunbathing and aquatic family fun. We appreciate your kind cooperation in this matter. Spotlight

Carmen Ramos What is your role and what are your goals? My role as a Senior Sales Manager is to plan, coordinate and develop social and corporate events as well as golf tournaments at Dorado Beach Resort & Club What is something you recommend that every client can do here at the resort? The Watermill, because its the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony, corporate dinners and social events. How many years have you been in the Event Coordination industry? 8 years What do you enjoy best at what you do? Planning every event is a challenge, I am very passionate for what I do, and it comes from the heart. I live and enjoy taking care of our clients and I make sure to give them a special and personalized treatment. I love to be part of the planning of their events and make them feel at home and with the confidence that everything is going to be as they wished.

Why Dorado Beach, and where? Dorado Beach Resort is a beautiful and very special place; both the members and the staff make work pleasant and sometimes even an adventure. My favorite place…. ALL! As each one of them has its enchantment and know them like the back of my hand and have very fond memories from every event that we have held in them. What is the most important thing when planning a wedding or event? Paying attention to all details and the way we treat and take care of our customers. Each customer has different ideas and needs and that’s how we take care of them. For me, each one of them is a new experience; my goal is for them to fall in love with our facilities, and for them to be astonished with our services during their wedding or social event that makes them want to come back.

Trail Art Trail art is a digital art exhibition designed to highlight the most important rules that define community etiquette, when using the Rockefeller Trail. This unique intervention creates educational segments along the trail, including colorful floor graphics that will be placed on the pavement.

Fist Art Foundation has taken the task to embellish this community trail by showcasing the most important traffic rules with the use of lively design and vivid colors.

Aspiring artist Daniela Moll created one of a kind illustrations that help exemplify the purpose of each rule. Daniela is a student at Tasis who enjoys spending time with her family and friends as much as she enjoys technology.

Zafra Gitana Gypsy sounds and flavors surrounded Zafra Terrace on the night of July 26 where Dorado Beach Resort Members and guests enjoyed and exquisite Flamenco Night at Zafra Terrace. The night offered a highly-energetic performance from Fusion Jonda and gastronomic Spanish creations from the resorts’ culinary team led by Executive Chef Jose Cedeño. The menu included tapas, live carving stations and delicious desserts. Gypsy rhythms merged with jazz, flamenco and Spanish flavors transported guests to a traditional “Tablao”. Thanks to our sponsor, Alex Gierbolini, Senior Vice President of Merrill Lynch.

Golf Clubhouse Rushing to the Course? 10 minutes until you tee off and you’re just arriving to the Club, sound familiar? Well most people run to the range in a rush grab their driver and start swinging as hard as they can. That is one way to do it but I would like to make a suggestion that will help you get lower scores; When you need to warm up and you’re short on time, head to the putting green for a quick 5 -10 putt warm up. This will allow you to just get an idea for the speed of the greens and more importantly will calm that rushed feeling you may have. Understanding the greens is important because if you are a 10 handicap player putting makes up almost half of all your total strokes during a round of golf.

Upcoming Events After a few putts, head to the driving range with your sandwedge and a short iron (8 or 9). Start out by hitting some easy sandwedges and focus on solid contact more that distance. The will help you set your rhythm and tempo of your swing much better than hitting a driver as hard as you can. After a 10 balls or so you will be ready for a few swings with your short iron. Again your focus should be on solid contact not distance or direction for the first few balls. Now that you have yourself in a good rhythm hit the next 10 balls with focusing on a target. At this point it should be time for you to head to the tee and you are READY! By focusing on your rhythm during a fast warm-up session you will find that those first tee jitters will go away!

2013 Men’s and Women’s Match Play Championship Sept 7th and 8th 2013 Dorado Beach Resort and Club Club Championships This year’s Championships will play on October 18, 19, and 20th. Both the Men’s and Women’s Championship flights will be a 54 hole event and play one round on each of the three courses. The winner will be determined by the low 3 day gross score. All other Flights will play on October 19th and 20th. These flights will be flighted by handicap and for awards will be given to the low net and low gross winners.

Talking About Tennis When is the Best Age to Start Your Child with Tennis? I have seen several bench marks reached in 2013. I turned the big 40 this year, in August I will celebrate my 1 year return to Dorado Beach, and in September of this year my wife and I will welcome our first child. As we ponder our daughter’s future in this world we are filled with optimism, excitement, and MANY questions. One question that always finds its way to me is, “When should my child start taking tennis lessons.” My standard answer for that is “It depends.” In Andre Agassi’s book OPEN, we learn his father had a tennis racquet and suspended ball above his crib. While, we don’t recommend that, I can say that each child is different and you should always base you tennis lessons on the individual child. Many children are ready for tennis lessons somewhere between 4-5 years old. We start our group lessons at Dorado Beach with half hour sessions for 5 year olds. In these classes our focus is not on being great tennis players, but enjoying being out on the tennis court.

Our goal is for your child to be excited about coming back to the tennis courts. If we have done that, then we have planted the seed of tennis in your child’s mind. The USTA has adopted “Quick Start” tennis. This is a graduated learning system using modified courts and equipment. The guidelines below will show you what is now mandatory for the kid’s age. The specifications for the revised system hold that all tournaments for those ages 9-10 be played on 60-foot courts using orange low-compression tennis balls and regulation nets (3 feet at the center), or, for those more experienced and more skilled players, on 78-foot courts with green lower-compression balls. Tournaments for those 8 and under are to be played on 36-foot courts using red foam balls and nets at a height of 2 feet, 9 inches. Whatever path you chose for your kids, we are available for both private and group classes. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 939-202-3644 and see how we can work together to introduce your child to this lifetime sport.

We traveled with 4 kids that train at DB to college of coastal Georgia and trained with coaches from a national ranked university. The kids spent 7 hours a day on court. We finished the week by playing a tournament in Georgia. • Pedro Martinez won the boys 14s • Angel Villamil finished in 3rd place in boys 14s • Guillermo Torres finished in 3rd place boys 16s • Fernando Torres finished in 2nd place boys 16s We also did nightly trips such as bowling and mini-golf

Real Estate Sales Update – Time to “Bounce Back!" While real estate markets in the US have started to rebound, Dorado Beach is benefitting from a resurgence of interest. Low interest rates, *100% financing, lack of inventory, and the extension of the Puerto Rican tax incentives have resulted in a significant increase of qualified and motivated buyers - all of whom are looking to live the Dorado Beach lifestyle. If the past 6 months are any indication about whether the Dorado Beach market is back, the answer is "YES"!
