How long have you been working in Dorado Beach? T: I have been working in Dorado Beach for the past 16 years S: I have been working in Dorado Beach for the past 8 years What is your most memorable experience here at Dorado Beach? T: On one occasion, I was out due to an accident and I will never forget the calls, cards, visits and best wishes I received from the members. It really showed me how much I was appreciated for my dedication over the years. S: I remember one day a member wanted a white belt but we did not sell them at the shop. I went out and bought him a white belt. This member was so happy and pleased by what I had done, he wrote a letter to my manager about how I went the extra mile for a member. What is the most rewarding part of working here? T: The most rewarding aspect of my job is definitely being part of the Dorado Beach Lifestyle. It’s a place where everyone knows your name and no matter where you are on the island you always run into a member. S: When a returning guest comes back year after year and we both remember each other. Why do you love Dorado Beach? T: The property is paradise for me. We have so much flora and fauna. Every day I stop and take a moment to admire how beautiful Dorado Beach is. S: The people are so friendly and caring. What is your vision of a perfect day at the Resort? T: It would be having lunch at Barlovento watching the sea waves and after playing 18 holes on the East Course while the sun sets. Priceless! S: Spending the day at the Wind and Waves Center and then having lunch at Barlovento.

The Food Truck by José Andrés arrives at Dorado Beach Resort and Club The food truck craze is invading Puerto Rico, and with José Andrés’ culinary talent, the most delicious and innovative of all will be rolling into the golf course of the Dorado Beach Resort and Club. This exciting culinary venture marks the first ever golf course food truck as a 19th hole, presented as a collaborative effort between Dorado Beach Resort & Club and Chef José Andrés. Chef José Andrés’ expertise as food and beverage curator has been an enhancement to the Dorado Beach member’s eating experience at “Mi Casa”, and now they will enjoy his creative approach at the golf course. The 19th hole experience will never be the same when golfers taste the original creations of this world renowned chef. Chef José Andrés also teamed with the Dorado Beach staff, headed by Chef José Shamil Cedeño, to ensure the success of this project. “Today’s golfers have come to expect innovative and elevated dining experience and the golf course should be no exception. The days of a peanut butter cracker, bag of chips or pretzels or simple tuna sandwich are
over. Golfers want and deserve more. Eating has to be fun, especially in the golf course,” said Chef José Andrés. The Food Truck will offer a selection of food and beverage items and will also serve as a roving catering venue for residents throughout the golf community. Future plans for this concept include an enhanced hole-by-hole food cart offering and specially designed cocktails. The menu will feature American and Caribbean inspired classics such as burger, hot dog, BLT sandwich and cubano sandwich, done José’s way. Other favorites, but unexpected for the golf course and with an innovative approach, are lobster roll, crabcake sandwich, gazpacho, and shrimp, crab, stone crab or oyster cocktail or fried oysters, among other items. The menu also includes a breakfast selection such as tortilla flautas, ‘Bikini’ of jamon Serrano and manchego cheese and fruit salads. Club members and hotel guests will have the opportunity to savor Chef José Andrés new creations.
Big Break Premiere On Tuesday, October 8th we celebrated the much anticipated premiere of Big Break NFL Puerto Rico. Early in the afternoon members were able to take part in a series of golf challenges as the players did through the show. Break the Glass and Flop Wall were some of the challenges available for play. Later in the night the Clubhouse Terrace was transformed into an upscale sports bar complete with its big screen LED TV; members enjoyed complimentary appetizers and cocktails. General Manager David Tyson, Jay Kossoff, VP for NBC’s Original Productions and PR Tourism Company Executive Director Ingrid Rivera gave the official welcome to members and guests. A special mention to Chichi Rodriguez for his lifetime achievements in the sport of golf was also awarded. The premiere started at 9pm and everyone present witnessed the great exposure our club received in the national spotlight.

Dorado Beach 3rd Basketball Tournament: On November 11, 2013 we celebrated the championship game of our basketball tournament! The matchup was between team white (Alberto Aldrich, Francisco " Paco-Pepe" Cintrón, Joaquín "Payo" Martinez, Josue Pantojas, Luis Bou, Pedro Casanova & Pedro Colón) and team black, both teams were the best of the best in this tournament. Team white came in to the matchup as the top seeded team with a record of 6-2 and a breathtaking semifinals win over the yellow team and a lot of momentum to capture the crown. Standing in their way was team black with a record of 4-4 and the services of the tournament leading scorer. This would set up a matchup between the white team's unselfish team play
and the black team's one man wrecking crew. In the end a great all around game by the white team proved to be enough to hold on to a 42-37 victory and bragging rights until our next edition of the tournament set to begin in February! The success of this tournament purely relies on our members and their love for the game of basketball, so if you want to be part of the next edition of our tournament feel free to contact us at the Fitness Center 787-626-1019 or via e-mail at fitness@doradobeach.com and the inquire about participating in this exciting, fun and challenging event that truly brings out the team atmosphere and that competitive edge that we all have inside of us.

Along with the resurfacing, we have also installed new drainage ditches along the sides of the courts to allow the water to drain better from the courts and surrounding landscape. I want to send out special congratulations to several of our junior players for recent success in the Puerto Rico Open Tournament at Palmas del Mar: Champions: Guillermo Torres Boys (12s singles/ 14 Doubles) Fernando Torres (Boys 14s Doubles) Chantal Martinez Blanco (Girls 18s singles/18s Doubles) Runner-Up: Guillermo Jimenez (Boys 14s singles) Quarter-Finalists: Angel Villez-Villamel (Boys 12s singles) Fernando Torres (Boys 14s singles) Luis Jimenez (Boys 12s singles) Also congratulations to Chantal Martinez Blanco on her successful run (semi-finalist) at the Copa Coqui Tournament. They also enjoyed a demonstration by his Beverage Manager, Juan Coronado who made the special drink, a Spanish Collins.
