ABOUT THE AUTHOR: • My name is Saket Bolisetty. I am in 11th Grade. I go to a special Ed school called The Calais School in Whippany, NJ. I live in Randolph, NJ. In my spare time, I love to visit the city and go to different art museums and college campuses. • I love American Holidays because they are very fun and traditional.


ABOUT THE BOOK: • Ten year old Tasha and her little 7 year old brother, Wayne teach kids from all around the world about American holidays. • They teach everyone a lot of history about the holidays.

• This book is perfect for preschool and kindergarten teachers to teach their students about different American holidays because they are not familiar with them.


• New Year is a holiday that is celebrated on January 1st in the USA. • The tradition is staying up until midnight 12:00 on December 31st and celebrating. • It is also celebrated all across the globe. • Here, Tasha is drinking a glass of sparkling juice and Wayne is blowing a noisemaker to celebrate the New Year.


VALENTINE’S DAY: • Valentine’s Day is a holiday that is celebrated on February 14th every year. • The tradition is giving out valentines to people you love. • It is also celebrated worldwide. • Valentine’s Day started in the 5th century. • Here, Tasha got a valentine from Wayne and Tasha is crying with happiness and Wayne is making a heart shape to Tasha because Wayne loves Tasha so much.


ST. PATRICK’S DAY: • St Patrick’s Day is a holiday that is celebrated on March 17th every year. • The tradition is wearing green. • It celebrates the death of St. Patrick. • It was first celebrated in Ireland. • Here, Tasha and Wayne are doing a St. Patrick’s Day dance.


EASTER: • Easter is a holiday that is celebrated between March and April every year. • The tradition is going on Easter egg hunts. • It celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. • Easter is also known as a Christian holiday. • Here, Tasha and Wayne are going on an Easter egg hunt.


• Fourth of July is an American holiday that celebrates America’s birthday. • People celebrate with friends and family watching parades, fireworks at night and having picnics in the park or barbecue in the backyard. • It celebrates the Declaration of Independence. • Here, Tasha & Wayne are watching the red, white, & blue fireworks and singing patriotic songs.


• Halloween is a holiday that is celebrated on October 31st every year. • The traditions are wearing costumes and going trick-or-treating. • It is also known as the eve of All Hallows Day. • Here, Tasha and Wayne are going trick-ortreating dressed as a princess and Superman.


THANKSGIVING: • Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November every year. • The tradition is having a Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. • It was first celebrated in 1620. • Here, Tasha and Wayne are about to eat a yummy Thanksgiving dinner.


CHRISTMAS: • Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated on December 25th every year. • The traditions are decorating a Christmas tree together, opening presents and spending time with family and friends. • It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. • It is also a Christian holiday. • Here, Wayne is sharing his Christmas present with Tasha.
