My Book of Famous People from History by: Saket Bolisetty


ABOUT THE AUTHOR • My name is Saket Bolisetty. I am in 12th Grade. I go to a special Ed school called The Calais School in Whippany, NJ. I live in Randolph, NJ. In my spare time, I love to travel, write stories, and do artwork. • I like learning about history and it is so much fun.


SACAGAWEA • Sacagawea helped with the Lewis and Clark expedition . She gave birth to a child. The child was named Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. She died on December 20th 1812.


KING TUT • King Tut was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty. He was also known as Tutankhamun. He was the son of Akhenaten. When he became king, he married his half-sister, Ankhesenpaaten, who later changed her name to Ankhesenamun.


NAPOLEON • Napoleon Buonaparte was a French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and led several successful campaigns during the Revolutionary Wars. He was part of the Waterloo Battle. Napoleon was born on 15 August 1769. He had lost the Waterloo Battle.


LEONARDO DA VINCI • Leonardo da Vinci was a famous Renaissance man. He was a famous inventor, artist, scientist, engineer, and writer. His most famous works are The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.


THOMAS EDISON • Thomas Edison was a famous inventor. He was born in New Jersey. His most famous invention is the lightbulb. He was also a businessman.


AMELIA EARHART • Amelia Earhart was an American pioneer and author. Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She was also a pilot.


GENGHIS KHAN • Genghis Khan was the founder of Great Khan of the Mongol Empire. He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia. He started the Mongol invasions that resulted in the conquest of most of Eurasia.


MERIWETHER LEWIS • Meriwether Lewis was an American explorer, soldier, politician, and public administrator, best known for his role as the leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He had a brother named William Clark. He was the son of Lt. William Lewis of Locust Hill .


WILLIAM CLARK • William Clark was an American explorer, soldier, Indian agent, and territorial governor. His brother was named Meriwether Lewis. He was the ninth of 10 children of John and Ann Rogers Clark.


PLATO • Plato was a philosopher in Classical Greece and the founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. He is widely considered the most pivotal figure in the development of philosophy, especially the Western tradition. The philosopher came from one of the wealthiest and most politically active families in Athens.


THUTMOSE III • Thutmose III was the sixth Pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty. He was the son of King Tut. During the first twenty-two years of Thutmose's reign he was co-regent with his stepmother and aunt, Hatshepsut, who was named the pharaoh.


MAHATMA GANDHI • Mahatma Gandhi was the preeminent leader of the Indian independence movement in British-ruled India. Gandhi famously led Indians in challenging the British-imposed salt tax with the 400 km (250 mi) Dandi Salt March in 1930, and later in calling for the British to Quit India in 1942. He was imprisoned for many years, upon many occasions, in both South Africa and India. He brought independence to India and is known lovingly by whole world as ‘Bapu’


MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. • Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He wanted people of all races to love and respect one another. We celebrate his birthday on the 3rd Monday of every January. Schools and Offices get a day off.
