Leonardo da Vinci •

Leonardo da Vinci was a famous Italian artist. He was born during the Renaissance in 1452. His two most famous works of art are The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. He died in 1519.


Rembrandt Rembrandt was born in 1606 in the Netherlands. His most famous work of art is The Night Watch. He was also a printmaker. He died in 1669.


Johannes Vermeer •

Johannes Vermeer was another Dutch painter. He was born in 1632 in The Netherlands. His most famous work of art is called Girl with a Pearl Earring. He died in 1675.


Claude Monet Claude Monet was born in Paris in 1840. His art style is called Impressionism. He is best known for painting Water Lilies. He died in 1926.


Pierre-Auguste-Renoir •

Pierre- Auguste Renoir was born in France in 1841. He was another Impressionism painter. He painted many beautiful things. He died in 1919.


Gustav Klimt •

Gustav Klimt was born in Austria in 1862. His most famous painting is The Kiss. He was also known for painting murals. He died in 1918.


Henri Rousseau Henri Rousseau was born in France in 1844. He is best known for creating jungle paintings. He never left his home. He died in 1910.


Paul Gauguin •

Paul Gauguin was born in France in 1848. His paintings are very colorful. They were distinctly different from Impressionism. He died in 1903.


Vincent Van Gogh: Vincent Van Gogh was one of the most tragic artists who ever lived. Nothing ever went right for him. He was born in the Netherlands in 1853 and he died in 1890. He was so upset that he cut off his ear. His famous work of art is The Starry Night.


Georges Seurat Georges Seurat was born in 1859 in France. His styles of art are Pointillism and Impressionism. His most famous work of art is A Sunday Afternoon of The Island of La Grande. He died in 1891.


Paul Cezanne Paul Cezanne was born in France in 1893. He was best known for painting still-lifes. His style is called Post-Impressionism. He died in 1906.


Edvard Munch •

Edvard Munch was born in Norway in 1863. His most famous work of art is The Scream. He was another tragic artist. He died in 1944.


Wassily Kandinsky Wassily Kandinsky was born in Russia in 1866. His paintings are very abstract. He was also an art theorist. He died in 1944.


Henri Matisse Henri Matisse was born in 1869 in France. His paintings changed over time. He was best known for paper cut-outs. He died in 1954.


Piet Mondrian Piet Mondrian was another Dutch painter who was born in 1872 in the Netherlands. He is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He died in 1954.


Paul Klee •

Paul Klee was born in Switzerland in 1879. His art styles included Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism. He is best known for painting different shapes. He died in 1940.


Pablo Picasso •

Pablo Picasso was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. He was born in Malaga, Spain in 1881. His art changed over time. He went from Blue Period-Cubism. He died in 1973.


Marc Chagall •

Marc Chagall was born in Russia in 1887. He is another abstract painter. His most famous work of art is I and The Village. He died in 1985.


Joan Miro •

Joan Miro was born in Spain in 1893. He was a Surrealist painter. He was also a ceramicist. He died in 1983.


Rene Magritte •

Rene Magritte was born in 1898 in Belgium. He is a Surrealist artist. He was best known for creating provoking images. He died in 1967.


Salvador Dali Salvador Dali was born in 1904. His art style is called Surrealism. His most famous work of art is The Persistence of Memory. He died in 1989.


Jackson Pollock Jackson Pollock was born in Wyoming in 1912. His style is called Abstract Expressionism. He drips paint onto the canvas. His studio was a barn. He died in 1956.


Georgia O Keeffe •

Georgia O Keeffe was born in Wisconsin in 1887. She was best known for painting flowers. She also painted New York skyscrapers and New Mexico landscapes. She died in 1986.


Alexander Calder •

Alexander Calder was born in 1898 in Pennsylvania. He is a sculptor. His sculptures are mostly balanced. He died in 1976.


Andy Warhol •

Andy Warhol was the father of Pop Art. He was born in Pittsburgh in 1928. His most famous works of art are the Campbell’s Soup Cans and Marilyn Monroe. Andy Warhol called his studio “ The Factory”. He died in New York in 1987.


Roy Lichtenstein Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York City in 1923. He is another Pop Art artist. He is best known for painting comic strip panels. He died in 1997.


The Fish Boy Who Loved to Draw: A Story About Drawing Once upon a time in a town in the deep blue sea called Bubbleville, there lived a young 16 year old blue fish named Timmy. Timmy loved to draw. He had a sketchbook that he took everywhere with him. He loved to draw his feelings down and he loved to draw things he saw in the deep blue sea. One day, Jimmy’s art teacher Mrs. Pearl who was a clam told her underwater art class that there was going to be a big art show at the Bubbleville Community Center on Friday, Timmy was so excited. Timmy was working on a drawing of the stuff he saw in his ocean. It took him a whole week to finish the drawing. The the day of the art show finally came. After all of the sea creature people looked at everyone’s drawings, it was time for the winner to be announced. The winner was Timmy. Timmy won for his beautiful self portrait. After the art show, Timmy, his big sister Sally, his dad, and his best friend Wendy went out for dinner and thought of what a wonderful art show Timmy was part of. Timmy lived happily ever after. The End


The Man Who Loved to Paint: A Story about Painting Once upon a time in Paris,France, there lived a young man named Pierre. He loved to paint. He had an art studio right next to the Eiffel Tower. He loved to paint portraits, landscapes, and hearts. One day, Pierre decided to have an art show of his art. On that Saturday, Pierre went to one of the parks in Paris and displayed his art. Everyone was very happy to see Pierre’s art. Pierre met a girl named Fernande at the park.Pierre painted a picture of her and they both fell in love. Years later, Pierre married Fernande and they had 2 kids named Maya and Claude. Pierre taught his kids how to paint and from that day on they loved to make art and paint. Pierre and his family lived happily ever after. The End

Blues Blues is a music genre that began in the 19th century. It began in the Southern US by immigrants that were originally from West Africa. Examples of Blues singers are Robert Johnson and Muddy Walters.


Classical Classical Music is a music genre that began around the 11th century. It began in Europe by Europeans. Examples of Classical Music composers are Mozart and Beethoven.


Hip-Hop: Hip-Hop is a music genre that began in the 1970’s. It began in The Bronx in New York City by Block Party DJ. Examples of Hip-Hop artists are Jay-Z and Kanye West.


Rock Rock Music is a music genre that began in the 1940’s and 1950’s. It began in cities all over the US by people who mixed Blues, Jazz, and Country music together. Examples of Rock artists are Elvis Presley and The Beatles.


Country Country Music is a music genre that began in the late 1800’s. It began in the Southern US by immigrants that were originally from West Africa. Examples of Country singers are Taylor Swift and Johnny Cash.


Reggae Reggae Music is a music genre that began in the late 1960’s . It began in Jamaica by Jamaicans. Examples of Reggae artists are Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.


Jazz: Jazz is a music genre that began between 1895 and 1917. It began in New Orleans by immigrants that were originally from West Africa. Examples of Jazz artists are Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong.


Salsa: Salsa is a music genre that began in the 1960’s. It began in New York City by immigrants from Cuba and Puerto Rico. Examples of Salsa singers are Celia Cruz and Eddie Palmieri .


Bhangra Music: Bhangra Music is a music genre that began in the 1970’s. It began in North India by Punjabi immigrants who took their native folk music and began experimenting by alerting it using instruments from their host country. Examples of Bhangra artists are Juggy D and Swami.


Vallenato: Vallenato is a music genre that began in the early 1900’s. It began in Colombia by Colombians. Examples of Vallenato artists are Carlos Vives and Jorge Celedon.


Indian Classical Indian Classical is a music genre that began in the 14th century. It began in North India by North Indians. Examples of Indian Classical Stars are Ravi Shankar and Zakir Hussian.


The 4 Choir Kids : A Story about Singing Once upon a time in a large town in Illinois, there lived 4 best friends in 4th Grade named Sabrina, Angelica, Robert, and Kevin. They all were best friends and they all loved to hang out after school and on the weekend. They all were also in the choir. The 4 friends always did awesome during choir rehearsals and concerts. One day during choir rehearsal, their teacher Mrs. R announced to her choir class that there was going to be a big choir concert on Friday night. Sabrina, Angelica, Robert, and Kevin were very excited. Everyday they would practice their songs in front of their parents and siblings for hours. Then the day of the concert finally came. The audience was happily sitting down looking forward to the performance. First the band performed and then the choir came up onto the stage. Sabrina, Angelica, Robert, Kevin, and the rest of the choir started singing and the audience cried with tears of joy. Then the performance was over. Everyone started crying with happiness. The next day, Sabrina, Angelica, Robert, and Kevin hung out and thought about what a beautiful performance that they were just part of. The four friends remained as good friends and lived happily ever after. The End


The Teenage Boy Who Loved Listening to Music: A Story about Listening to Music Once upon a time in a town in New Jersey, there lived a young 16 year old teenage boy named Jacob. He loved listening to music with his headphones. His favorite music genres were Rock, Hip-Hop, Pop, Classical, Jazz, and Choir Music. He listened to music everywhere he went. He brought his IPhone and his music headphones everywhere he went. One day, Jacob was walking around his town in New Jersey listening to music. He sat on a bench in the park and listened to some really beautiful violin music. The music made Jacob cry with tears of joy. Suddenly, Jacob saw his girlfriend Martha. She asked Jacob what’s wrong. Jacob told Martha that the song Jacob was listening to was making him cry with tears of joy. Martha sat next to Jacob and gave him a big hug. Jacob and Martha both shared the headphones and listened to the beautiful violin music together. They both watched the sunset in the park and lived happily ever after. The End


The Two Indian Girl Dancers: A Story about Dancing Once upon a time in a large town in Wisconsin, there lived two girls named Swetha and Asha. Swetha was an Indian classical dancer and Asha was a Bhangra dancer. They both loved to dance. One day, their dance teacher Darika told Swetha and Asha that there was going to be a big dance performance at the Wisconsin Performing Arts Center. The two girls were very excited about that. They practiced every night for one whole week. Then the big day finally came on Saturday. Darika told the audience that Swetha and Asha were ready to perform their dances. Swetha and Asha started dancing and the whole audience cheered. After the performance, the whole audience cheered again and screamed for Asha and Swetha. The next day, Asha and Swetha thought about what a beautiful performance that they had performed. The two girls remained as good friends and lived happily ever after. The End


The Boy Who Loved to Play Guitar: A Story about Playing Instruments Once upon a time in a small town in Pennsylvania, there lived a young 10 year old boy named Matthew. He loved to play instruments. He especially loved to play guitar. One day, his guitar teacher Mr. Roberts told Matthew that he was going to have a big solo guitar performance at the Pennsylvania Performing Arts Center. Matthew was very excited about that. He practiced playing his guitar for an entire week. Then on Friday night, the big day finally came. Mr. Roberts told everyone in the audience that Matthew had been practicing his guitar for an entire week. It was time for Matthew to get onto the stage with his guitar. Matthew played all of his songs that he practiced for a whole week After the performance, the audience cheered and screamed really loud for Matthew. The next day, Matthew thought about what a beautiful performance he had performed in front of a lot of people. Matthew was very proud of himself for being so brave about doing a solo performance. Matthew lived happily ever after. The End
