Sheegwa the Siamese Cat: A Chinese Story Sheegwa was a very clumsy Siamese cat. She always fell into pots and got herself dirty. She lived with a mama cat, a father cat, and her brothers and sisters. One day, Sheegwa was taking a walk around the Chinese village. When all of a sudden, she saw a shadow fly by. “ What is that” said Sheegwa in a very frightened tone. It was a giant dragon. The dragon was very scary and had very big fire breath. The dragon was named Fu-Fu. Fu-Fu flew across the mountains and grabbed Sheegwa. Sheegwa was flying high up in the air. “Help” yelled Sheegwa. Sheegwa meowed a lot for help. Just then, Sheegwa saw her mom, and dad see Sheegwa in the sky. “ We are going to get help right away” said Mama Cat. Mama cat meowed to the cook and the cook grabbed a ladder. The ladder was very tall. So the cook climbed the ladder and grabbed Sheegwa. Sheegwa was in the cooks arms and the cook gave Sheegwa to her family.

A Gift from Aunt Rosa : A Mexican Story Little Alicia thought of her aunt all the time. She thought of her when she was taking a shower, during meals, and during bedtime. She wished she could see her aunt sometime, but she lived all the way in Mexico and Alicia lived in San Antonio, Texas. Alicia always asked her whole family why Aunt Rosa could not visit all the time. It was because she was too old and far away. Luckily, Alicia’s birthday was coming up. The only gift she wanted was a visit from her aunt. She did not want a doll or a new dress . “ I just want a visit from my aunt” she said. Finally, Alicia’s birthday came. The whole family sang Happy Birthday in Spanish. Alicia went to school and wondered if her aunt was coming. When Alicia came home, Alicia’s mom had a very special surprise for Alicia. It was only going to come at night. When the night came, Alicia heard a knock at the door. It was Aunt Rosa. Alicia gave her a big hug. “ This is the best birthday gift ever” said Alicia. They all sat at the table and enjoyed Alicia’s birthday. “ Muchas gracias” said Alicia “De nada” said her family. Alicia had a wonderful birthday and had the best time with her family.

Nadia and Zakes: An African Story There were once two African kids named Nadia and Zakes. They lived in a very small house in a very big African forest. One day, their mom told them that they were going to have a very big African feast. The two kids were very excited about that. So they went outside and they were making their very own soups. They used all kinds of ingredients. Zakes used shells and Nadia used snails. “ Ewwwww� said Zakes. Zakes did not like snails. Nadia teased Zakes and Zakes did not like it. Then they started cooking their soup. When they were done, they went to their mom and their mom was very proud of them. Then it was time for the party. Everyone started dancing and having fun. Nadia and Zakes were having the best time at the party. Nadia and Zakes had the best night ever with their family and friends.

The Young Couple: An Indian Story Ananya was a young Indian girl who lived alone. She was not married and she had no kids to keep an eye on. One day, Ananya was walking around her Indian village. When all of a sudden, she saw a beautiful face. It was the face of an young Indian boy. Ananya looked at him with love. “ I’m Arjun” said the Indian boy. “ My name is Ananya” said Ananya. Ananya was very happy to meet Arjun. They both planned a wedding. They told their friends and the wedding day finally came. There was lots of food, gifts, and cake. The wedding started and everyone looked at Anany a and Arjun with tears of joy. Ananya and Arjun then got married and had a wonderful life. Years later, Aanaya and Arjun had 2 twin daugters named Archana and Ankita. The whole family then had a loving and happy life.
