Ideas for New Year’s Eve party for kids As a child I have always craved for the New Year time as that was the time I got to meet my loved ones and indulge in an array of delicacies and games. But I was quite disappointed as I was expected to go to bed early which I detested each time I heard cheerful laughter and melodic music outside. I would like to share some ideas which can make every child’s celebration an unforgettable one this New Year. How to make a New Year party an interesting one for children? Most New Year parties are not kid friendly and it so happens that most of the parents leave their children at home as they find the party place inappropriate for them. Children either end up staying back home or are kept away from drinking and dancing. As per party planners, it is very important that a New Year party inviting children along with adults should be pre-planned. Since children are exempted from drinking, the party organizer should focus on three kid-friendly areas: food, beverages and activities. Parties for children can vary from a pajama party to dance party, karaoke party, movie marathon and a craft party. What should a New Year party for children largely focus on? Have the best of food. It would be quite difficult to have gourmet food last for hours together with children around. Instead, have finger foods, homemade snacks like pasta, tacos, pizza, wraps and sandwiches along with chocolates for the children. All these will keep the children busy for quite an extended time. The best thing to do would be to have a snack bar with healthy finger foods and punches. Exhibit the food items in a thematic manner or a fun setting which can draw the children’s attention and keep them busy with the grub. You can also organize activities for the children involving food, wherein candies, popsicles, biscuits, jellies, marshmallows, peanut butter and chocolates can be used to make-your-own s’mores table (Decorative food arrangement table). Do not forget to have a salad bar, an ice cream sundae bar or a top-yourown-cupcakes bar for variety foods. What sort of drinks should the children be served? Most parties begin and end with drinks and children would like to imitate their parents. Get devious and fill plastic versions of wine or champagne glasses with sparkling juices, fruit punches, soft drinks and ice cubes. A hot chocolate martini bar can allow kids to decorate their own drinks with jellies, marshmallows, whipped cream and more.
Conduct activities for Children: Make the New Year party an interesting one by thinking of various activities for them. Here are some ideas; An hourly surprise bag: Make an hourly surprise bag for the children which will tell them about the activities for each hour. Have at least 8-10 bags with hourly surprises in it. The last bag can have confetti and candies in it. A photo booth: Hire a photographer for the party and have a photo booth. Let the photographer click children’s pictures and hand it over to them. Provide the children with craft materials like tapes, scissors, glitters, color pencils and so on. The children can frame their own photographs with desired designs. Face painting: Appoint a person to manage this activity and provide the children with necessary items and let them paint each other’s face. Other crafts like New Year’s Eve banner, party hats, noise makers, party masks etc can be made by them. What sort of entertainment children can have at the party? Have a kid-friendly dance floor for the children. You can either play them a holiday movie or play holiday songs and rhymes. Let the kids also sing holiday songs/rhymes. How to make children feel at home/feel comfy at a party? Not all the children would stay bouncy for a longer time. Have a set of bean bags or a loft in the corner of the room for the children to rest on. However, let the child end the celebration with zeal by receiving a return gift from the party.
