Realty Study on Tenali – A CommonFloor Story (Part I) Tenali municipal town is a mandal in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. It is located about 28 km east of Guntur and about 38 km south of Vijayawada. It is renowned for being the birth place of the legendary Tenali Ram Krishnan, the court poet and jester in the court of King Krishnadevaraya, and is named after him. It is also known as Andhra Paris. Tenali is located about 30 km from the sea coast and is the second largest town in Guntur district. Demographics According to the 2011 census, the population of Tenali municipality is about 1,64,649. About 75 per cent of the town’s population consists of middle-class people whose major source of income is derived from either agriculture or small businesses. Due to the increase in the population of Tenali in the last decade the residential requirements have also increased considerably. Considering that the major section of the population is middle-class, the necessity of affordable residential property is paramount. Tenali as an educational hub Tenali is an important educational hub in the region with many students from surrounding localities coming over to Tenali to pursue their studies. It houses the Veda Pathashala which is one of the oldest Vedic schools in Andhra Pradesh. Besides there are many reputed schools and colleges like Bhashyam Public School, Dr.KKR Gowtham Concept School and Sri Chaitanya Junior College, among others. As a result, there is considerable demand for affordable rental accommodation as well as Paying Guest accommodation for students from other localities. Transportation Road Tenali is well connected to other localities through some major roads passing through it. The cities that are in the vicinity of Tenali are Vijayawada and Guntur. It is connected to Guntur which is about 28 km towards its west, through the Guntur-Tenali road. Vijayawada is about 38 km north of Tenali along the Asian Highway-45 (NH-5). Other important roads that pass through Tenali are the Tenali-Kollur Road and the Burripalem Road, among others.
Rail Tenali railway junction is one of the important railway stations that is a part of the Vijayawada railway division of the South Central Railway. Many passenger as well as freight trains pass through this station. It is located close to the heart of the city. Some of the other railway stations in Tenali are Chinaravuru railway station and the Angalakuduru railway station. Air The nearest airport from Tenali is the Vijayawada Airport that is located about 55 km from Tenali along the NH-5.
