BLACK PANTHER WAKANDA FOREVER

Is now more than four years after the first film Black Panther landed, the release date for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is here –and it’s not one to be missed, if its positive reviews are anything to go by.

While the decision has been made not to recast Chadwick Boseman’s character after he tragically passed away in 2020, the film does pay emotional tribute to the T'Challa actor, while also telling a new story that sees the likes of Shuri

Jack Morgan

(Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o), Okoye (Danai Gurira), M'Baku (Winston Duke) and Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) take on underwater monarch Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta.

Letitia Wright’s Shuri became this movie's headliner, kicking things off by trying to formulate a cure for T'Challa before her brother tragically passed away. She spent the rest of the movie enveloped in her work and working to negotiate with Talokan to avoid war before taking her biggest step forward as an MCU heroine.

Letitia Wright has said filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever without Chadwick Bozeman was “painful” but the cast could “feel his presence” on the act.

Boseman, who played King T Challa in the original 2018 film, died of colon cancer in 2020at the age 43. His role have been recast and the new film includes a song by Rihanna, Lift Me Up, compose in tribute to him.

Letitia said that it was one of the toughest projects I have done in ten years of my career. I tried to make him proud. I miss him daily.

Ramonda became the emotional core of this movie, retaking the throne as Queen of Wakanda after her son's passing. But while she put forth every effort to show Wakanda's place in the world while protecting her people, she became the film's biggest onscreen casualty when Namor flooded the palace.

Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including three Black Reel Awards, a Golden Globe Award, seven NAACP Image Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to nominations for one Academy Award and seven Primetime Emmy Awards.

Okoye's story took some wild turns in Black Panther 2, even leading to her title of Dora Milaje General being stripped after she lost Shuri on their mission to the USA. But that didn't stop her from playing a huge role as the story progressed forward, with Shuri developing a brand-new suit for Okoye to wear in battle against

Namor and Talocan.

Okoye is a fictional character and the General of the Dora Milaje in Marvel Comics. Before serving King T'Challa, she served his father, T'Chaka. Along the way, she fell in love and married W'Kabi, the head of security for Wakanda's Border Tribe.

Winston Duke's M'Baku takes on a much different role in Black Panther 2 with the Jabari tribe no longer isolated from the rest of Wakanda. He served on Wakanda's leadership council and threw his weight around against Namor and his people, helping out Shuri in every way he could after Ramonda's passing.

Lord M'Baku is the leader of the Jabari Tribe, a group of Wakandans who have removed themselves from mainstream society, and a staunch opponent of T'Challa's rule who ends up torn between challenging him for the throne only to help him defend Wakanda from Erik Killmonger.

Lupita Nyong'o opens up about having the opportunity to speak Spanish in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Nyong'o's character Nakia was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018's Black Panther as an undercover agent outside Wakanda and T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman)'s former lover. Nakia served as a close ally to T'Challa,

returning to Wakanda at his behest and helping often during his missions in Black Panther. Nyong'o previously teased that the Black Panther sequel would delve more deeply into her character's relationships with the other members of the Wakandan royal family, T'Challa's mother and sister.

The Daily Show host Trevor Noah played a small but key role in 2018's Black Panther as the voice of Shuri's artificial intelligence, Griot. With her technology coming

back in grand fashion for Black Panther 2, it's no surprise to hear Noah's voice once more, especially after he hinted at having a role in the movie a few weeks before its release.

As was the case with Killmonger, rumors pointed to Black Panther 2 introducing the child of T'Challa and Nakia, which came to fruition in the mid-credits scene. That child

was played by Divine Love Konadu-Sun, and although Nakia revealed his given name to be Toussaint, the young boy also told his Aunt Shuri about his Wakandan name - T'Challa.

NETFLIX IN THIRD AFRICAN TALENT ARRANGEMENTS

creatives, coming after deals with Mo Abudu and her Ebonylife Studios and director Afolayan.

The pact was unveiled at Netflix’s See What’s Next Africa 2022/23 content showcase today, which brought together talent, filmmakers and press from South Africa and Nigeria.

Under terms of the pact, Dube — who directed Netflix’s first commissioned African film Silverton Siege —will direct a variety of Netflix projects, details of which haven’t yet been received but agreed in principle.

This marks Netflix’s third creative partnership with African

The event was designed to spotlight the streamer’s investment in African storytelling and also included glimpses of progress of various projects from emerging filmmakers working initiatives such as the UNESCO & Netflix ‘African Folktales, Reimagined’ Competition; the Netflix & NFVF Film Fund and theRealness Institute Episodic Lab.

14 October 2021 -- Netflix and UNESCO have partnered to launch an innovative short film competition on ‘African Folktales, Reimagined’ across Sub-Saharan Africa. Winners of the competition will be trained and mentored by industry professionals and provided with a US$75,000 production budget to create short films that will premiere on Netflix in 2022 as an “Anthology of African folktales”.

One key aim of this competition is to discover new voices and to give emerging filmmakers in Sub-Saharan Africa visibility on a global scale. We want to find the bravest, wittiest, and most

surprising retellings of some of Africa’s most-loved folktales and share them with entertainment fans around the world in over 190 countries.

The competition, which will be administered by Dalberg, will open on 14 October 2021 until 14 November 2021. Each of the 6 winners will receive a production grant of US$75,000 (through a local production company) to develop, shoot and post-produce their films under the guidance of industry mentors selected by UNESCO & Netflix to ensure everyone involved in the production is fairly compensated. In addition, each of the 6 winners will also receive $25,000.

The streaming giant is trying to establish itself in the continent through investments in young talent.

The US company has had considerable success picking up shows from around the world and giving them a global audience -most recently with the South Korean hit "Squid Game".

It has already provided

scholarships and pandemic relief funds in South Africa and Nigeria.

UNESCO said the new initiative was partly motivated by the desire to preserve certain traditions in danger of being forgotten as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to prevent cultural gatherings.

Young filmmakers aged 18 to 35 can pitch ideas for the competition until November 14.

Ben Amadasun, Netflix’s Director of Content in Africa noted that with Africa’s rich cultural heritage, there’s a multitude of stories to be told from, and about, the continent and its people. He further said

that “Netflix has not only invested in promoting African talent through content creation and skills and capacity building initiatives but wants to enhance the narrative of Africa beyond the continent’s borders to our global audiences.

BURBERRY SPRING 2022 SHOW IN RICCARDO TISCI’S WAY

The Burberry catwalk show was perhaps not quite the triumphant moment of upbeat glamour that had been planned for this season’s London fashion week, but it was a blockbuster display of its firepower. When Britain’s biggest luxury brand swiftly postponed its postpandemic return to the schedule as a mark of respect after the Queen’s death, Burberry’s prime Saturday slot turned into a Monday one sandwiched between Milan and Paris fashion weeks.

Naomi's look was more muted, with the 52-year-old model donning a nude jacket paired with a matching maxi dress and a scarf in the brand's iconic checkered print.

Terri Donnelly Sabrina Elba caught the eye in a skintight tan ensemble . Chilling out: Jourdan and Fireboy seemed in good spirits as they chatted away at the fashion show.

Kanye jetted to London for the presentation and opted for a controversial look in socks and silver flip flops.

Irina Shayk poses backstage at the Burberry Spring/Summer 2023 runway show in Bermondsey on September 26, 2022 in London.

Tisci’s critics argue that he has failed to exploit the opportunity that Burberry has in being Britain’s premier heritage luxury house, and that sense of disconnect struck a dissonant note. Burberry described the collection as being inspired by the British seaside. But the beach-life references in the clothes – oversized shark earrings suspended on a diamante fish-hook, sandals with Velcro fastenings inspired by surfboard straps – were more tropical island than deckchair-and-beachhut. It was Tisci’s own design signatures that stood out. His fingerprints were all over the high-gothic Victoriana of long, intricate lace dresses and the bold, surreal streetwear of inflatable rucksacks and garish sweatshirts.

KANYA WEST IN THE MIDST OF A PSYCHIATRIC EPISODE?

Insiders are in no doubt that his recent headline-grabbing behavior is the result of a mental break, and they believe it’s the most serious such episode that the rapper has suffered.

Friends are saying that the “Watch the Throne” star is barely sleeping, which is an issue that reportedly contributed to his hospitalization in 2016.

Sources close to the star said that his odd behavior began when he fired the publicist for his Paris fashion show, he scrapped his plans for the show and hastily put together a new show featuring the now-infamous “White Lives Matter” theme. He also booked his jaw-dropping interview with Tucker Carlson against the advice of his team.

Since then he’s been firing consultants and advisers who have disagreed with him or resisted his ideas, sources said, which have widely been regarded as anti-Semitic or racist.

We’re told that friends are at a loss to find someone who can get through to the superstar and convince him to seek professional help or temper his outlandish and self-destructive behavior, and he’s even fought with longtime pals who have tried to calm him down.

West was hospitalized because of mental health problems in 2016 and in 2019 he said that he suffers from bipolar disorder.

Adidas Dropped Kenya West. “I can say antisemitic shit, and Adidas can’t drop me,” Ye said on the Drink Champs Podcast on October 16 — days before the banner was hung over the 405. But drop him it did. Adidas terminated its relationship with Ye on October 24, expecting a projected Q4 loss of €250 million ($246 million). While the decision hit Adidas hard, Ye lost far more in the breakup — his billionaire status turned to dust without Adidas, per Forbes, leaving him with a $400 million

Below, the companies — from Balenciaga to Gap to his own talent agency, CAA — that have parted ways with Ye. Madame TussaudsMadame Tussauds told the BBC that they have removed the wax figure of Ye from their London location. “Ye’s figure has been retired from the attraction floor to our archive,” the waxwork company said in a statement. “Each profile earns their place at Madame Tussauds London and we listen to our guests and the public on who they expect to see at the attraction.”

Shoe brand Skechers claims it had to escort Kanya West from its office

Kanya West escorted away from Skechers.

after he showed up “unnoticed and invited”. It has issued a press release stating that Ye is not the S, nor will he ever be. Apparently, Ye came to the Los Angeles Sketchers offices “unannounced and without invitation,” as well as filming without permission. He was escorted out. “Skechers is not considering and has no intention of working with West,” the release read. “We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other

form of hate speech.”

TJ Maxx

TJX — the company that runs TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls — will no longer be purchasing Yeezy merchandise for their stores. “At TJX we do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or hate of any kind. We have instructed our buying teams not to purchase this merchandise for sale in any of our stores globally,” the company told CNN Business.

Christie’s

The same CNN Business article reported that Christie’s auction house will no longer be going forward with the private sale of the Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototypes that Ye wore to the 2008 Grammys.

Foot Locker

Foot Locker sent an internal message to its stores October 25, requesting that stores remove all Yeezy-branded footwear from sales floors. Stores were to hold them in back rooms, awaiting further instructions. “Foot Locker, Inc. does not tolerate any form of antisemitism, or hateful and discriminatory behavior,” a Foot Locker, Inc. spokesperson said in a statement obtained by Complex. “While we remain a partner with Adidas and carry a wide assortment of their collections—we will not be supporting any future Yeezy product drops, and we have instructed our retail operators to pull any existing product from our shelves and digital sites.”

Gap

Suburban-mall mainstay Gap shut down YeezyGap.com, the website that sold the rapper’s capsule collection with the brand. Though the partnership ended in September after Ye said the company didn’t fulfill its contractual obligations, the website remained active until its deactivation on October 25 hours after Adidas cut ties with Ye.

“In September, Gap announced ending its Yeezy Gap partnership,” the company stated. “Our former partner’s recent remarks and behavior further underscore why. We are taking immediate steps to remove Yeezy Gap product from our stores and we have shut down YeezyGap.com.”

Donda Sports Ye’s sports-marketing agency lost multiple clients in the fallout of his hate-speech controversy. L.A. Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald ended his contract with Donda Sports on October 25. “Our family has made the decision to part ways with Donda Sports,” Donald and his wife, Erica, wrote in a tweet. “The recent comments and displays of hate and antisemitism are the exact opposite of how we choose to live our lives and raise our children. We find them to be irresponsible and go against everything we believe in as a family.”

He said he remains dedicated to “freedom of speech, thought, and opinion,” and will continue to “clarify statements taken out of proportion by the media.”
