September 1 | 1:00 PM | Complimentary | Grand Lawn Enjoy this competitive and traditional team-building sport, where two or more teams each have a flag and the objective is to capture the other team’s flag, located at the team’s “base,” and bring it back safely to their own base.

Family Scavenger Hunt

September 2 | 10:00 AM | $30 per team Compete with your family as a team to score as many points as possible through a special Salamander Scavenger Hunt app. You will have two hours to answer questions located throughout the resort and in the town of Middleburg. Prizes awarded to the team with the most points at the end. One smartphone per team is required. Teams can be 2–8 guests.

Wine & Cider Bike Tour

September 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27 | 11:30 AM $125 per guest | Fitness Center Enjoy a scenic bike ride with one of our guides to Boxwood Winery for a wine tasting, followed by a stop at Mt. Defiance Cidery for a cider tasting. Overall distance is approximately 4 miles and the experience is 1.5 hours. Participants must be 21 or older with a valid photo ID for the duration of the tour. Upgrade to an E-bike for an additional $25 per guest.

Authentic Quesadillas and their Variations

September 23 Chef de Cuisine Cesar Mir will teach you how to create the authentic quesadillas that he grew up eating during his childhood in Mexico City. Learn the history of the quesadilla and a few of his favorite recipes and bring home a special gift to remember your experience.

Fall Donuts & Coffee

September 30 Nothing is better than a freshly made donut paired with your favorite cup of coffee. Learn from Pastry Chef Mollie Turner how to create delightfully fluffy yeast donuts with tasty, hand-dipped, fall-inspired frostings and toppings. This demonstration will include a hands-on portion to dip and decorate your own trio of freshly made donuts to enjoy with a specialty coffee drink of your choosing. After the class, depart with printed recipes so you can create these sweet treats at home.

September 14 | 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM | $50 per guest Cooking Studio Join us once a month as our sommelier, Catherine Watkins, walks us through the wines of the world. This casual and interactive wine tasting event will help you hone your wine knowledge and diversify your palate. The 0.6mile trail features 10 actor scenes from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm for children ages 4 through 12 years old. Our fright-free trail is at 6:30 pm for children who wish to walk the trail without actors in the scenes. Last entry to the trail is 8:30 pm. Only offered while Cupcake is visiting the Living Room, enjoy a sweet twist on our traditional espresso martini, complete with house-made whipped cream and topped with rainbow sprinkles.

$200+ per family (up to four guests) | All Ages One Hour Horsey fun for the whole family! Enjoy a private session for all ages to learn about petting, grooming and basic horse care & safety. Each family will have their own horse and equestrian team member to spend time with, take photos and fully embrace your visit to horse country.

She will be groomed and braided to look her best for your special photos. An Equestrian staff member will accompany Cupcake to the photo shoot location and assist as needed.

$165+ per child | Ages 4+ | One Hour Learn about our horses’ coat colors, markings and breeds. Followed by painting your own model horse to look like one of the Salamander horses or your dream horse! The session ends with a pony ride.

Spa & Wellness Calming Antara Ritual

90 minutes | $320 This super hydrating therapeutic wrap starts with full body dry brushing exfoliation before you are cocooned in velvety organic shea butter that is infused with hyphenate organically-grown CBD Restore Balm, followed by a relaxing scalp and neck massage with CBD Relief Balm. The treatment will conclude with a full body massage. This is the perfect treatment for dehydrated or very dry skin and overall joint and muscle aches and pains.
