Make Sure your Facebook Story Archive is Turned ‘ON’
Before you do anything else, the first thing to do is to turn on your Story Archive. This will allow you to later find any Stories that you have shared (for general reference or reposting etc).
-On the Facebook desktop app: Go to your Facebook page, click 3-dots near top-right corner, select ‘Story Archive’. If it hasn’t been activated ever before (by default it is ‘off’), click: Settings > and then TURN ON Story Archive’
-On the Facebook mobile app: Tap ‘menu’ icon in bottom menu bar, the Settings ‘gear’ icon at top of screen. In Settings, search for ‘story…’ From the search results, choose: Story Settings > then Story Archive > toggle ON Save to Archive
Upload a Video to Share as a Facebook Story
(Note: videos can’t be longer than 26 seconds) (Note: videos can ONLY be uploaded to Stories in the mobile app, NOT in the desktop app)
-On your Facebook mobile app, on your Home feed, tap ‘+’ icon at top of your screen, choose Story to access the Create Story section. Change privacy settings to ‘Public’ if necessary.1 Select video to include, then tap Share.
1. The first time you share a Story, change Story privacy settings to ‘Public’ (by default it will only show to ‘Friends’): In the Create Story section, tap on the settings ‘gear’ icon at top of screen; then choose Who can see your story? = Public, and Save.
Share your Facebook Story as a Reel
Find your Story right after sharing it. On your Facebook Home feed (either in Desktop or mobile app), your current story will be the first one listed at top of page.
Tap/click to open in and you will see an overlay menu with a choice to ‘Share as Reel’.
By sharing your video Story as a Reel, the video will appear on your main timeline (as opposed to hidden in ’Stories’). Stories disappear after 24 hours (but can be reposted over and over from the Story Archive). Reels don’t disappear.
