Well-Rounded Graduates: Through our new general education curriculum and other innovative academic approaches, we offer a unique brand of public higher education that inspires students to reach higher and achieve more. This approach, coupled with the fact that a majority of our students work at least 20 hours a week on campus and off, means that Salem State students have the skills critical for success. RECRUITING SCHEDULE

Fall Semester (Mid-October to Mid-November) Primarily reserved for accounting firms who are able to commit to June hires and for companies that are seeking students who will finish their coursework in December.


Spring Semester (Mid-March to Mid-April) Open to May graduates who are seeking a June start date and those students seeking internship opportunities for the summer or fall.

Accounting Association encourages professional interest among students preparing for careers in accounting. ALPFA Salem State works with the ALPFA nationwide organization as a Salem State University chapter promoting ALPFA’s mission of creating opportunities, adding value and building relationships while expanding job and leadership opportunities through the ALPFA network both on and off campus. American Advertising Federation encourages students to protect and promote the well-being of advertising. American Marketing Association exposes students to the practical and ethical practices of marketing in the business world. Association of Computing Machinery encourages a greater interest in computing and its applications, as well as the educational and entertaining aspects of computing culture and other interests within the group. Biological Society offers opportunities for students to expand their knowledge of biology.

GROUPS AND CLUBS

Chemistry Society provides opportunities to further investigate the field of chemistry, including all applications of science. College Democrats of Salem State University works to advance the policies and ideals of the Democratic Party at Salem State University, the City of Salem and the State of Massachusetts.


Computer Programming Club brings students interested in programming together within the Salem State community. It also helps to raise awareness of computer science issues and matters. Criminal Justice Academy enhances student’s awareness in the field of criminal justice through group activities, guest speakers and field trips. Earth Science Association promotes and conducts educational activities about geological sciences and the earth. Economics Club encourages the understanding of economics in theoretical and practical applications. Exercise Science Club guides and supports the academic and professional development to students with the exercise science concentration and any other student of Salem State University with an interest in the field. Finance Association provides learning experiences, career awareness and networking opportunities for students. French Club promotes further knowledge and awareness of French and francophone cultures. Historical Association engages students in historical study and discussion. Honors Program Advisory Council supports the intellectual and social growth of the members of the Commonwealth Honors Program. Hospitality Management Student Association improves knowledge about the hospitality field while providing educational activities that connect to the community. Italian Club promotes further knowledge of Italian culture through films, excursions, presentations, and discussions. The club also provides students and faculty opportunities to communicate in Italian. Philosophy Club encourages philosophical engagement, critical thinking and critical awareness. Holds events that promote philosophical discussions. Political Science Academy promotes political thought and discussion through speakers, trips and model U.N. competitions. Pre-Health Professions Society acts as a resource and a supportive community for those pursuing careers in the health sciences and medicine. Pre-Law Society provides opportunities to learn about law school and careers in the legal profession and to educate the campus community about contemporary and historical issues under the law. Public Relations Student Society of America provides scholarships, internships, leadership workshops, networking, travel opportunities, and job placement assistance in public relations.

Salem State University Book Club enriches people’s lives and allows them to expand their usual reading list. Salem State University College Republicans provides the opportunity to connect and speak freely about politics. Salem State University Psychology Club discusses topics of psychology in a relaxed setting and learn about the most recent psychological research. Salem State University American Sign Language Club provides an active forum for those who want to learn and/or improve their signing skills. Spanish Club creates linguistic and cultural awareness on campus and promote the study of foreign languages and expand cultural interest amidst the student body and abroad. Sports, Movement, Science Club creates a sense of community, academic and social enrichment within the sport and movement science department. Student Action Resource Team (S.T.A.R.T.) enhances an awareness of the field of social services among students. Students for Liberty at Salem State promotes the political philosophy of liberty, related subjects, and the general principles of liberty. Student Nurses Association serves as the governing and representative organization for nursing majors. United States Institute for Theatre and Technology enriches the educational experiences of the technical theatre students and spreads knowledge about theatre technology to the rest of the school population. CLUB SPORTS Cross Country Running Club provides students with running opportunities. Ice Hockey Cheerleading Builds and promotes school spirit during Salem State University hockey games. Rugby Club promotes the rugby union football on campus and the North Shore area of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as encourages participation and involvement of as many students on the campus of Salem State. Salem State Spirit Squad builds and promotes school spirit during Salem State University basketball games. Ultimate Frisbee Team provides students with the opportunity to play organized ultimate Frisbee on a team. INTEREST GROUPS Grandma’s Third Leg provides an environment to learn and perform improve comedy. Intercultural Leadership Program is a learning community for culturally diverse students, committed to academic excellence, leadership, mentoring, and civic engagement. MASSPIRG Student conducts projects involving research, educational outreach and advocacy on issues of public concern. Math Society brings together students who share a common enthusiasm for mathematics. Student Philanthropy Council educates students about the importance and impact of donor generosity. PERFORMANCE GROUPS Music Society provides a social and cultural forum for musicians and non-musicians alike. Repertory Dance Theater provides a professional level dance company of the highest caliber. Ssockapella creates and performs a capella music at a variety of events, programs, and shows on campus and in the community Student Theater Ensemble provides students with performance and production opportunities on campus. Urban Arts Theater educates the Salem State community about diversity and urban culture through dance, drama, spoken word/poetry, and visual art. PROGRAMMING ORIENTED GROUPS Adventure Club brings together students who enjoy challenging both their mind and body through indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Amnesty International enhances student’s awareness of international human rights concerns. Campus Educators on Sexual Assault (CESA) offers training and workshops on sexual assault education and prevention. Community Service Group provides service events that will enhance the well being of the Salem State community and the surrounding area. Greek Council discusses, adopts and carries out procedures necessary for the general welfare of the overall fraternity and sorority community. Instills the principles of brotherhood/sisterhood among the membership of the Greek Council. Power to direct and assist member organizations with social or political activities within the campus setting. Program Council provides a variety of social, educational and recreational activities for the student body. Scuba Club provides opportunity for SCUBA divers of all skill levels to improve their diving skills; encouraging dive safety, and organizing dive trips for all members of the organization.

Student Commuter Association represents interests and provides activities for commuter students. Student Veteran Organization provides support and a social network for those who are in the military or interested in joining the military. RELIGIOUSLY AFFILIATED GROUPS Hillel provides the university community the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Judaism through celebrating and learning the holidays, presenting student-run services, as well as attending services on campus and hosting guest speakers. Intervarsity Club establishes a community of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord. SOCIAL AND CULTURAL GROUPS African Student Union fosters awareness of African issues and helps to unite African students within the Salem State community. Asian Student Association provides activities for students to have a better understanding of different Asian ethnic backgrounds. Florence Luscomb Women’s Center operates as a resource and referral service for women with a diversity of needs. International Student Association fosters international awareness and cultural exchange between all members of the university. Latin American Student Organization promotes interest among students in Hispanic history and culture by sponsoring educational, cultural and social events. Multicultural Student Association Provides students with an avenue whereby they can get together to explore their heritage. The Alliance offers opportunities to meet, support and plan events for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and their straight supporters. STUDENT GOVERNING GROUPS Residence Hall Association represents the resident student population in all matters concerning the quality of living on campus. Get involved in your residence hall’s community council at Bowditch, Peabody, Atlantic, Marsh, or Bates along with its Weekend Warriors. Student Government Association serves as the voice of the students to the administration, faculty and legislators. Provides an opportunity for students to participate in seven different committees; public relations, finance, governmental relations, civic engagement, student life, academic affairs, and rules. STUDENT MEDIA GROUPS Salem State Log Serves as the campus newspaper and the independent voice of students. WMWM FM 91.7 provides progressive and alternative radio programming.
