PROGRAM
This program is designed for those who have a bachelor’s degree in a major other than occupational therapy and wish to become a qualified occupational therapist. The learner will be prepared as a practitioner dedicated to providing services that are occupation-focused, clientcentered, and evidence-based with a commitment to leadership, research and professional advocacy. CURRICULUM
This program begins every September and takes four years on a part-time evening basis to complete. Students are expected to be on campus no more than two evenings per week. The direct entry MS program is 87-88 credits (based on electives) and course attendance is required during the fall, spring and summer semesters.
PREREQUISITES
There are 30 credits of prerequisite courses that must be completed with a grade of C or better by the beginning of the program in September. Visit salemstate.edu/OT-reqs for a list of prerequisite courses, tracking form, and course equivalency information.

The application deadline is December 16, 2024 for fall 2025 enrollment.

COST
For Massachusetts residents, each credit costs $581.50*, and for nonMassachusetts residents, each credit costs $676.10*. The program is 87-88 credits (excluding prerequisites).

ACCREDITATION AND LICENSURE
The program meets the standards, skills, values and ethics set forth by the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Graduates meeting all requirements will be eligible to sit for the occupational therapy certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Please note that any student who has been convicted of a prior felony may be considered ineligible by NBCOT to sit for the NBCOT exam and may be unable to attain an OT license from the state licensure board.
