Trauma, Attachment, Loss and Narrative Therapy: Cross Cultural Trauma Treatment (6 CEUs) Trauma has debilitating effects in the human life cycle. “Human encounters with violence, abuse, atrocity, and catastrophe are widespread, and the psychological consequences of such exposure are often debilitating in the extreme (Harvey et al., 2012). At the core of such encounters is a strong sense of disruption and loss at various levels including physical, emotional, spiritual and psychic integrity. The presentation will seek to underscore loss across attachments and the need to engage story and the use of a cross cultural bereavement lens. It will also explore self-care strategies for practitioners involved in trauma work.
