It may take up to 48 hours for you to register online if you request your account reactivation by telephone.
REGISTRATION HOW TO REGISTER Students may register online for an unrestricted summer course with available seats before the first class meeting. Students wishing to register for a course after the first meeting must obtain permission from the instructor and visit the Student Navigation Center to register for the class after the permission has been issued. Students may register for courses online using Navigator. Payment may be made online using MasterCard, American Express, Visa or Discover credit cards (a 2.75% fee will be charged). Students registering online may also use our convenient electronic check process to pay for courses. All students will be billed for their summer classes at their Salem State University email account, which will be created upon student account creation. No paper bills will be sent, and registration for any class will incur charges. When using a paper check or money order it must be made payable to Salem State University. All students are strongly encouraged to verify their class schedule after registration to ensure that their schedule is correct.
FIRST-TIME SELF-SERVICE FOR NON-DEGREE STUDENTS New non-degree students may utilize the First-Time Self-Service at salemstate.edu/nondegree. This system allows students to create a student account and register online for the first time. After this initial registration, non-degree students will be able to utilize Navigator to register, access grades and update personal information. Please note that utilizing this system does not constitute admission to a degree program.
COURSE CANCELLATIONS Classes not meeting minimum enrollments may be cancelled. Classes will be cancelled approximately one week before the start of the semester. In the case of summer institutes, it may be cancelled up to one week before the first class meeting. If your course has been cancelled, use express registration or visit the Student Navigation Center during normal business hours to add a new course, provided that the new course has space available. If you need assistance in choosing an alternative course, we’re here to help. Call 978.542.6324 or via email at graduate@salemstate.edu. Remember, early enrollment helps to prevent cancellations!

MATION REGISTRATION AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION
CHANGES IN REGISTRATION OR DROPPING COURSES When using online registration to drop a course, the course must be dropped one calendar day prior to the course’s first scheduled class meeting; otherwise, a “W” (withdrawal) grade will be assigned. Please note that there is no add/drop period for graduate courses.
WITHDRAWAL FROM COURSES Withdrawals can be completed online or in person at the registrar’s office and will result in a grade of “W” for the course. Please note that lack of attendance does not constitute a withdrawal. Students who feel they may be eligible for a refund should check the refund policy, available at salemstate. edu/navcenter. Withdrawal from an academic program does not automatically withdraw the student from registered courses. Withdrawal from all courses may impact financial aid eligibility. Graduate students must withdraw by the fourth class meeting or they will receive a grade of F. Undergraduate students must withdraw from summer session I courses by June 11, 2018 and from summer session II and full summer classes by July 26, 2018. For summer institute offerings, students must withdraw by the third day of class.

ACADEMIC CATALOGS It is the responsibility of every degree-seeking student to consult the academic policies contained in their academic catalog. The catalogs are available at catalog.salemstate.edu.
TUITION AND FEE INFORMATION Summer undergraduate three-credit courses begin at $954 for in-state students.
NOTE: Refunds are based on dates of scheduled class meetings, not on attendance. Refunds will be processed through the Student Navigation Center and sent to students approximately six weeks after withdrawal notification by the student. Tuition and fees are refunded if the university cancels the course. We are not responsible for finance charges incurred on your credit card statement.
Summer graduate three-credit courses begin at $1,227 for in-state students. These rates apply to regularly scheduled summer courses. Courses offered in special accelerated formats, such as institutes, are charged separately and priced individually. Please review the specific class information in this brochure for the cost of individual institute classes. Please visit: salemstate.edu/tuition and look for Summer 2018 tuition and fee information.

INFORM FINANCIAL AID SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS
SUMMER FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE ONLINE FEBRUARY 26, 2018 Before you register: •
You must be a matriculated (fully admitted degree-seeking) student by May 1, 2018 to apply for summer financial aid.
•
You must have a 2017-2018 FAFSA on file with Salem State University.
•
If your FAFSA is in by May 8 you can know your eligibility before classes begin. The Salem State University school code is #002188.
•
Your file must be complete (any required FAFSA documentation received) by April 4.
Summer financial aid awards are processed before spring 2018 grades are posted. Thus, if you are academically dismissed, or are not making satisfactory academic progress at the end of spring 2018, you will not be eligible for summer 2018 financial aid, even if you had already been awarded summer financial aid. If you are on ACADEMIC WARNING at the end of the spring 2018, and you take summer courses: •
SUMMER 2018 TERM and CUM GPA must be at, or above, 2.0 at the end of summer
•
SUMMER 2018 TERM and CUM completion rate must be at, or above, 67% at the end of summer.
Failure to achieve those requirements: will result in Academic Probation and the loss of your financial aid for fall semester.
Available financial aid: •
Summer Stafford Loan awards will be determined by your remaining Stafford Loan eligibility from the 2017-18 school year.
•
If you have Stafford Loan eligibility, you must enroll in a minimum of six credits.
•
Summer Pell Grant is available to all Pell eligible students; federal rules apply.
•
Emergency loans and book advances are not available in the summer.
If you are on ACADEMIC PROBATION at the end of the spring 2018, and you take summer courses: •
You must have completed an academic contract for summer with academic advising
•
SUMMER 2018 TERM GPA must be at, or above, 2.0 at the end of summer
•
SUMMER 2018 TERM completion rate must be at, or above, 67% at the end of summer.
Failure to achieve those requirements: will result in contract violation and the loss of your financial aid eligibility at Salem State and may result in dismissal from the university.
Important information: Financial aid funds are earned based upon days of attendance. Students not completing their summer courses will be subjected to the Return of Title IV policy resulting in loss of aid, AFTER classes have concluded. This will result in you being responsible for any remaining balance for your classes.
Please Note: Due to their shortened length, summer courses can be very rigorous and can very easily impact student academic standing. If you are on warning or on probation it is strongly suggested you discuss your plan for summer enrollment with an academic advisor.
If you change your enrollment, OR you do not attend, OR do not complete a registered course, then your aid will be adjusted and you will likely owe a balance. Summer aid revisions continue to take place even AFTER the summer session ends.
Please review the specific class information in this brochure for the cost of individual institute classes.
