On March 4, 2016—near what was to have been the conclusion of his five-year assignment to Yemen—Father Tom Uzhunnalil was kidnapped during an attack on an elderly care home run by the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity in Aden, Yemen. Fifteen people, including four Catholic nuns, senselessly lost their lives that day; a tragedy Fr. Tom often contemplated during his subsequent 557 days in captivity. Now, for the first time, Fr.
