One Day at a Time from the Salesian Collection

Jesus, Dear Did Jesus ever come to you When you were down and broken? Did you receive forgiveness, grace After His lips had spoken? Did you reach out for His kind hand, Which is so full of healing? Did Christ feel all the pain you felt With His miraculous feeling? Did you accept our Lord, the King As God’s beloved Son? For if you follow Jesus, dear Your salvation’s won. Carol Zileski

Shelter Let’s face life together in The shelter of each other; Our journey will go smoother If we help one another. For no one is an island And two are better than one, When riding out life’s storms and Bearing the heat of its sun. In God’s strength we can cope with Whatever life holds in store, Here in each other’s shelter, In the shelter of the Lord. Steven Michael Schumacher

A Willing Heart It takes a kind and willing heart To reach out to others in need: Show friendship and compassion; Not just in word, but also in deed. It takes courage and a willing heart To serve our Savior up above: Seek to honor His holy name With fortitude, faith and love.

If God gives us a job to do And we say, “I will if You’ll wait.” The job may go to someone else Whose response is instant, not late. When we waver we lose a blessing; But God will give us another chance To show Him love and dedication: Move without a second glance. We must always keep a willing heart: Be ready to answer a beacon call, Hide His word deep in our heart; Make Him our Savior and Lord of all. Frances Culp Wolfe

The Diamond The fiery glow of a diamond Can never come to be ’Til many tiny cuts are made By someone skillfully. No soul can go through life untouched, And then expect to shine… We need the cuts that come from life, Lived for God, divine. The more we yield to His great Will, The greater burns the fire Kindled by our God above… Every heart’s desire! Margaret Peterson

Prayer for Courage Lord of life and love, as we give thanks for times past, grant us courage to embrace the present and grace to share the future. In memory of loved ones dear, kindle their flame to shine in the dark and light the path ahead. Show the way that leads to life as we cherish days gone by and inspire us with a touch of love that faith and hope live on. Amen

What Is Faith? Faith is being certain That our prayers are heard; That God above is loving And considers every word. It’s waiting for an answer And believing it will come; It’s accepting His decision For we trust Who it is from. It’s confidence in what we hope, Although we cannot see – It’s knowing God is in control And that He’ll set us free.

Trusting in His goodness, In His mercy and His grace, We know that, without a doubt, We’ll one day see His face. Having diligence to persevere In godliness and prayer, God’s eternal home is ours And faith will take us there. Sharon Fuqua
