Applying for a school place? Three things you need to know.

Applications for school or nursery places in Salford open on 1 September.

The deadline for applications for high schools is 31 October 2020 and for primary schools and nurseries it’s 15 January 2021.

Think local. It’s best to apply for schools near where you live to stand more chance of getting a place.

Three or more. Name at least three schools on your application form so you have other options if you don’t get a place at your preferred school. The more schools you put on your form the better - if you don’t get a place at the school(s) you’ve put on your form you will be offered a place at the nearest school with availability after all the applications have been dealt with. This school could be some way from your home.

Beat the deadline. Make sure you apply on time as late applications are only considered when places have been allocated. Being late could really affect your chances of getting the school you want.
