DAY 3: 6.12. 2010
Czech Republic got off with just a scare Czech Republic's 4-4 tie against secured them the first place in Group D of the first phase of the WFC. The afternoon game evolved into a thriller as Norway was able to come back after being three goals down but failed to score the winning goal. The result means it is Norway that is going to face mighty Sweden in the quarter-finals. Ketil Kronberg had the best chance for a Norwegian winning goal as he lifted the ball just over the net after a good pass by goalie Tomas Näshölm. Not even pulling the goalie at 59.18 helped as Czech Republic was able to get their act together at the last moment.

A team Finland delegation visited a Helsinki Children's hospital on Monday that was the Finnish Independence Day. According to Captain Mikael Järvi the team was more than happy about the visit. -We brought them nine Playstations, games, WFC2010 tshirts, balls and player cards with our autographs on them. It's great to see how happy they were to have us here. Team Finland was represented by Mikael Järvi, Tero Tiitu, Mika Kohonen, Harri Forsten (who'll soon graduate to be a doctor himself) and Timo Toivonen. The players enjoyed chatting to the little patients and right after the first Playstation was set up, Mika Kohonen was challenged by 7-year old Valtteri in Lego Star Wars. Next door, Tero Tiitu lost in a board game to a little boy called Pyry.
The Hofbauer brothers proved too much for Poland as they were beaten 2-12 (0-3, 1-4, 1-5) by Switzerland. Matthias Hofbauer scored 3+1 and Christoph Hofbauer 1+3. Another two points gave the Swiss a good grip of a quarterfinal place. Within 19 seconds in the opening period, Matthias Hofbauer was left unchecked twice and fired two quick shots in the very same hole right of Poland's goalie Przemyslav Strazynski.
