COMMUNITY CENTRE SLOWMO

YeniBogaziçi is a large village near the ancient site Salamis, Northern Cyprus. It became an international Cittaslow member, the first in the whole of Cyprus.

While analysing the site, I was intrigued by the strong sense of community. With that, the main aim of the design is to create a community center which promotes a sense of place and community by providing many opportunities for the residents to interact with themselves and others as well.

Communal spaces have been designed grounded on the principles of SLOWMO . SLOWMO is the acronym for S low space, L ocal materials, O rganic space, W holistic space, M eaningful Experience , O penness. The design expresses the local identity of the town by preserving its cultural heritage and protecting the traditional way of living.

ENVSIONING A CITY FOR ALL FLÂNEUSE

So too do beleifs and normatives lay upon people, impressed through glances, sneers, comments, violence, agression, harassment, and also the internalized voices of repression.

Voices whether they come from neighbours. paedestrians, parents, or our own mind, tell us what it means to be woman, to be a herione who we ought to be. When this is misaligned with our ow experience, we exist in a constant state of battle - conscious or not. We press against ideas that negate us.
