M E M BERSHI P BROCHURE
The Salt Lake Chamber would not exist without the dedication and support of our community and business leaders. With a history that dates back to 1887, our membership and influence continues to grow. As a business association that represents all industry sectors, the Chamber fills an essential function within the community. Government cannot fill this function, because often the Chamber must present ideas and solutions to influence the government’s decision-making; and a narrow industry group cannot fill this function, because the voice of any particular industry is not strong enough. The Chamber stands up for the statewide needs of the business community. We work earnestly to promote an exceptional statewide business climate, and we could not do it without your help. We look forward to helping your business thrive in future membership with the Salt Lake Chamber.
“Capital city by name, statewide by mission” The Salt Lake Chamber is Utah’s largest and longest-standing business association. A statewide chamber of commerce with members in all 29 Utah counties, the Chamber represents the broad interests of the state’s 63,000-plus employers, which employ more than 1.4 million Utahns. This includes thousands of members and their employees. The Chamber also has members in 15 states and Washington, D.C. as well as 16 international chambers. The Chamber is a private, non-profit, member-supported organization that promotes economic and civic progress. The Chamber exists, at its most fundamental level, to make Utah prosperous. Established in 1887, the Chamber has become widely known as Utah’s business leader, applying the expertise and experience of its members to major issues facing the Beehive State. We promote a positive economic climate through services to members and business advocacy for the broader good.
“WE STAND AS THE VOICE OF BUSINESS, SUPPORT OUR MEMBERS’ SUCCESS AND CHAMPION COMMUNITY PROSPERITY.”
The Salt Lake Chamber is recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a five-star accredited chamber and is the only chamber in Utah to carry this designation.
Derek B. Miller President & CEO Salt Lake Chamber
To achieve accreditation, a chamber must demonstrate quality programs, clear organizational procedures and effective communications by meeting minimum operation and program standards in the areas of governance, program development, government affairs and technology.

“An industry association represents a slice of the economy, but a business association covers all industries; it’s where everybody comes together, and interestingly, its competitors. So you sit at a table at the Salt Lake Chamber and these are people that are fierce competitors out in the marketplace, and yet they come here and they solve community problems and make this community tick and work.” - Natalie Gochnour, Kem C. “I think the role of a chamber is vital to business in the State of Utah. It serves so many purposes. Number one, it serves as a networking platform for small businesses, such as myself, to get in front of a larger audience. I think it’s a great way for businesses to business; so relationship building. It helps us come together on big issues, like health care, education, employment. No matter if you are a small business or large employer, it creates that synergy of how businesses can really help other businesses to create this amazing state we live in.” - Dr. Donna Milavetz, Steward Health Care
