White Coat Ceremony Fall 2020
White Coat Ceremony Thursday,August20,2020
Welcome to the Salus University White Coat Ceremony, where we recognize and celebrate the start of our students' professional journey. The 2020 Ceremony is being offered in a hybrid format; today we come together to reflect on our roles and responsibilities as healthcare providers and reflect on the 'meaning' of the white coat. During the fall 2020 semester, each student will receive their white coat from their program faculty. This is a day of great pride for everyone involved and we are delighted
to celebrate our newest students' achievements. To our students, as you recite the Oath
to Professionalism today, which symbolizes an additional step in your professional journey, please listen carefully to the words of the oath. They are the same words you will recite at your commencement.
Salus University was established in 2008 by the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), which was founded as the Pennsylvania State College of Optometry in 1919. Our century-long legacy of excellence and leadership continues, as the University maintains and increases higher standards of education and clinical proficiency for the professions we serve. Our University is a diversified, globally recognized, professional academic center of learning, with more than 1,200 Salus students currently enrolled and more than 14,000 alumni worldwide. From 1919 to 1983, Optometry was the College's sole program. In 1983, master's degrees in Blindness and Low Vision Studies were introduced. In 2000, the Doctor of Audiology program began, followed by the Physician Assistant Studies master's degree program seven years later. Today, Salus offers additional master's degrees in Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Biomedicine, and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree, as well as a PhD program in Biomedicine.
