You’d be forgiven for thinking that when the sales start in June, that summer is over – and in the world of fashion, it is. Which is ludicrous because come August, the busiest time for jetting off, you’ve worn your summer stuff to death and are crying out for new, new, new.

Luckily, many brands are now clued into the fact that we don’t all want to finish shopping for summer clothes by the end of May and they’ve got the hottest months covered with high-summer ranges as well as pieces you can wear when it gets a little cooler.

If you are feeling you want clothing that takes you into the next season, invest in a sparkly sequinned dress and you can wear it now with bare legs and sandals and with an ankle boot later in the season, or stick a jacket over a sundress worn with thick tights and a platform shoe.

For holidays, I’m a huge fan of the kaftan, which you can wear to the beach or dress up with heels for nights out, and you can rock a pair of wide-legged pants with a swimsuit or bikini top, then transform it into a dressier outfit by pairing with a silk shirt and chunky, gold jewellery.
