What have you enjoyed most about FIXX?

Creating the perfect team and watching them grow has been amazing; having full creative control; meeting lots of different new faces; and watching the brand develop from absolutely nothing to something. We’ve also had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun along the way.

What have been your biggest challenges?

Surviving Covid was such an uncertain time; learning the business side of the salon as we go along is a completely new experience, especially in the current climate with increasing costs; and building a salon brand. However, hiring assistants, to keep up with our growing number of stylists, has been our biggest challenge. There’s certainly a lot of trial and error!

What are your biggest accomplishments as a salon?

We did our own photoshoot! Which was amazing, the whole team got involved and we used our own clients for a real authentic feel. Ben Page was our photographer and he made everyone feel totally comfortable.

What are you doing differently to other salons in the area?

We are dog friendly and a trans allies salon. We invest highly in regular training, product training and workshops – keeping up to date with current trends and new techniques is so important. We also have a Resilient Hairdresser membership, which is a fantastic resource to help manage stress levels and mood in a busy environment – happy staff, happy clients, right?

Any hair tips?

If you’re struggling to get your hair colour to last, think protection, protection, protection and use colour-safe shampoo and daily SPF for the hair. Everyday sun and heat-styling can dramatically fade your colour. And try washing your hair in cooler water as that will help to hold in the colour pigment.
