‘Outstanding’ MHSG Sixth Form offers 24 subjects and extensive alumni network as application deadline approaches
Manchester High School for Girls’ (MHSG) Sixth Form enables students to enter a new phase of independence and is ideal preparation for university and adulthood. We have been educating young women since 1874 and have an established reputation for academic excellence that places us amongst the leading independent girls’ schools in the country.

In 2022, 95.2% of A-level grades achieved by our students were A* to B, maintaining our reputation for students achieving outstanding A-level outcomes across a broad range of 24 A-level subjects, including computer science.
Our structured ‘Futures’ programme, in cluding dedicated higher education guidance, is delivered through our Careers Department and a team of skilled higher education advisors. Our extensive global network of alumnae provides invaluable support to our students through initiatives such as our student and alumna mentoring scheme and our careers talks as well as ad vice for work placements. This package of dedicated, individual support enables our students to gain places on highly competitive courses at prestigious universities both in the UK and overseas. believe a happy student is far more likely to fulfil their potential. Our wide-ranging well being programme includes topics to nurture positive physical and mental health, self-esteem, presentation skills for working life, citizenship, leadership, selfreflection and life skills.
The Sixth Form structure at MHSG is de signed to accommodate student choice, offering most combinations of subjects across the arts, sciences, classics and languages. Our Academic Enrichment Programme includes opportunities to com plete courses such as the Extended Project Qualification – highly sought after by universities.
All of our students are expected to participate in extracurricular activities. Our programme offers an exceptional and varied range of opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Doctors, Dentists and Vets Club, PhilSoc, Model United Nations, Young Enterprise and Mock Trial. Students are also encouraged to mentor and support younger students
MHSG’s Sixth Form is characterised by am bitious, motivated students, who are ready for independent study and have full access to facilities across the school. Stu dents benefit from expert teaching in small groups as well as our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre, which provides a mod ern base for study and relaxation.
Wellbeing is integral to life at MHSG. We through various programmes, such as Science Clubs, Literacy Leadership and our extensive Primary School Outreach activity.
