Wilmslow
‘WAY BETTER’
Wilmslow has always had a reputation for being an upmarket location for business and leisure akin to the kind of districts you find in affluent parts of London.

Now, a £1m investment will ensure it stays that way by upping the ante as the town enters a new phase of development over the next five years with the Wilmslow Town Centre Business Improvement District (Wilmslow BID).
BIDs are districts where income from businesses and public and private funding is used to fund improvements in a town, and Wilmslow already has plans in place to deliver three core objectives.
These are:
● ‘Way Better’ marketing and town centre promotion for Wilmslow
● ‘Way Better’ experience for consumers and visitors to Wilmslow town centre
● ‘Way Better’ business leadership and support.
The BID came into being in 2022 and by 2027, it will generate around £1m of new investment into the town centre. This investment will be managed by a new business-led partnership, which will answer to the wider business community.
Wilmslow is already a focus for leisure, with its independent stores and big highstreet names, and is a fantastic destination for anyone who wants to do a spot of shopping and then head off to a café or restaurant for lunch, a glass of wine or dinner.
It is also a brilliant business hub, which houses everything from cutting-edge global games creators to government offices and online retailers. The office spaces in Wilmslow are home to a range of professional services organisations and companies.
Plus, it’s fantastic location south of Manchester and less than two hours away from London, making it the perfect location for businesses, meetings and so much more.
However, the businesspeople of the town are nothing if not savvy and they have identified ways in which improvements can be made so that they remain ahead of the game.
The Wilmslow BID will therefore focus on a range of improvements, including:
● better marketing
● an increase in business-led events to bring life into the town
● environmental improvements
● providing businesses with a new opportunity to have their voice heard about matters affecting the development of Wilmslow town centre.
Jo Davies, Chair of Wilmslow BID Board and owner of Black White Denim on Water Lane, said:
"Wilmslow's BID status has already started to pay dividends for residents and businesses alike. We have enjoyed a WAY BETTER Christmas with our very own ice rink, a WAY BETTER Easter with our Jurassic Wilmslow Dinosaur and Easter Egg Hunt, and a jam-packed Coronation celebration just last month. I have been in business here since 2010 and have never seen the town so busy and so full of energy, vitality and opportunity."
