TAYLOR DAY
It’s been quite awhile since the last blog post. So much has happened over this past summer. We’ve lost employees, hired new ones, rebuilt the shop, rebuilt the website, and drank many many beers. We are still a company getting it’s groove in this world. All in all, we are paying our dues. This blog post is dedicated to a special thing that happened to us a few weeks ago and lord knows after a long, hot, slow summer, we needed it.
You see, it just so happens that Daniel and the team at Salvage have developed a very good relationship with none only than Bob Taylor of Taylor guitars. Taylor is literally right around the corner from us in El Cajon, California. Daniel and Bob exchange ideas and designs all the time. He’s most recently been getting us very special pieces of wood to build our boards with. These are priced at a premium as you will see on the website or the Instagram from time to time. Daniel has returned this great opportunity by helping The Bob out with some fun personal projects. Anyway, during one of their recent meet-ups Daniel conjured up an idea. We felt so blessed to have Bob as a source of inspiration and support that we wanted to share this with others. So we chatted and asked ourselves, what if we organize a meet and greet with Bob and some of our closest friends in the custom building world where they can get Bob’s personal advice and insight like we do on a daily basis. Bob, being Bob, was totally down. This turned into one of the best days any of us ever had. We called our friends in the building world and a few of them showed up, eager to meet Bob. Some even flew in. We organized a Friday with Bob where he took us through his own personal tour of the Taylor factory, describing in extreme detail how he does things and why he does things. Then afterwards, we spent the remainder of the day sitting with Bob and asking him very specific questions about business, finance, family, work ethic, triumphs, tribulations, and just about anything we wanted to. This you could say, was priceless. Then, Bob took us to his secret warehouse, and well, that’s all I can say. It’s a secret. If you don’t know much about Bob all I can say is this; He is a legend. Not in the making. Living. He has already reached that status level. His
achievements are unbelievable. I recommend reading his book to get an idea. There is just too much to share. And, if you don’t want to read, thanks to our friends at the 60 Cycle Hum Guitar Podcast, you can just watch the videos of the actual conversations we had with Bob. So, yes. You can have the advice too. It’s priceless. Really. I mean, how much money do you think Bob and his close confidants could get to speak for people? Um. He bought us lunch too… And dinner… And beer… And, uh, this whole thing wasn’t even his idea. LEGENDARY. Scroll down for the video sessions. The day started with a little coffee and donuts over at the Salvage custom warehouse:
