ANNA’S STORY
COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND RECOVERY (CAR) PROJECT - THE PHILIPPINES
I am a third year college student and a single mother, currently volunteering for the CAR project. Before the project, I had little understanding about human trafficking in my community and I did not realise that the issue was so widespread within society.
CAR project awareness materials have enlightened me with some of the human trafficking issues going on in society. It is wonderful that the CAR project is present in our communities as it makes people recognise human trafficking is prevalent. I am now more responsible and vigilant to human trafficking. Since joining as a volunteer, I have been very motivated to complete my tasks as I have a strong desire to help others. Since volunteering, I have seen changes in myself in that my focus should also be on others, and not only on myself. Within my role, I have learnt to teach others. For instance, I teach children about human trafficking at our Sunday school. I pray to the Lord [to] always protect us. I will share my knowledge to inform others about human trafficking to prevent them from being victims. In the future I hope to be more responsible towards every decision I make especially in regards to going abroad. My dream is to also lead and teach people so that they are true believers of Christ. I hope and pray that no member of my family and community will be a victim of human trafficking.
