Every home has something that makes it stand out. Perhaps it’s a big trampoline in the garden or a strange painting bought from an old, dusty shop. For 32 Windsor Gardens, the thing that makes it stand out is that it’s home to a bear called Paddington! Paddington isn’t a cuddly teddy bear – he’s a real bear that can talk!
One day, Paddington gets a letter all the way from the Home for Retired Bears in Peru. Peru is the country that Paddington came from! The letter tells Paddington that his Aunt Lucy misses him and that he should visit her as soon as possible.
With a suitcase full of marmalade, Paddington leaves 32 Windsor Gardens. Joined by the Brown family and their housekeeper, Mrs Bird, he sets off for Peru. However, when he arrives at the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington discovers that Aunt Lucy isn’t there. That’s because she’s gone off into the Amazon rainforest for an adventure!
Aunt Lucy knew that Paddington was coming to visit her, so why would she disappear just before he arrived? Paddington wants to know the answer, so with the Brown family at his heels, he sets off on a quest to fnd Aunt Lucy. It’s a quest that will take him all the way through the Amazon rainforest to the mountains of Peru. It’s also a quest that will reveal big secrets about Paddington’s past!
When Paddington left Peru, it must have been so hard to leave Aunt Lucy behind. Thankfully he met the Browns and became part of their family. Paddington might be a bit different, but his new family love him despite the chaos he causes! Families come in all shapes and sizes. They might contain parents, siblings, grandparents, step-parents or step-siblings. We might have friends that we’re so close to that they feel like family too. Whatever a family looks like, the best families love, support and celebrate each other. This is exactly what it should feel like when you’re part of God’s family too. There’s a song that we sing at Sunday school at my church called Big Family of God. It talks about how we’re all part of God’s family, and despite the fact that we’re all different, God loves all of us! I hope that sounds like a family you want to be part of!

Loving God, Loving Others
ave you ever done something wrong and felt bad about it? It doesn’t feel good when we make mistakes or hurt other people’s feelings. It feels rubbish when others hurt our feelings too.
As a mum, I spend a lot of time asking my daughters to say sorry to each other. Because my youngest daughter is only three, my six-year-old has to put up with a lot! I’m often asking her to be understanding and forgiving of her little sister’s mistakes. So I’m sure she would understand how the older brother feels in this week’s Bible cartoon!
Jesus told the story in this week’s cartoon to teach people about forgiveness. We all make mistakes. We might not go off and spend lots of our parents’ or carers’ money like the younger son
by Cara Mott
in the story, but we might say something mean to a friend, not share our toys or not listen at school. In all these situations we can make things much better by telling someone we’re sorry.
Thankfully, when we make mistakes, we have a loving God who will always forgive us. Just like the father in this week’s cartoon, God will always show us kindness and understanding if we tell him how sorry we are.
God also wants us to show love, kindness and forgiveness to others. Even if they do things we don’t like or things that hurt us. That’s not always easy, but if we want others to forgive our mistakes, we have to show the same love, kindness and forgiveness to them.
Where is the Love?
Find your way through the maze to the big heart. Collect the letters as you pass them to reveal an important word linked to this week’s Bible cartoon.

Bumper Bible Breakdown
Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.
Jesus Is King!
Do you know what you’ll be doing in the year 2055?
That’s so far in the future that it’s impossible to guess! You might have no clue, but God knows. In fact, one psalm shows that God knew what was going to happen 1,000 years after it was written!
The frst two psalms in the book of Psalms are a bit of an introduction to the book’s main message. The frst psalm shows that following God helps us to grow into better people. The second psalm is all about how Jesus is the king of all creation. This psalm was written by King David 1,000 years before Jesus was born! However, the Holy Spirit gave David the right words to write down.
Some psalms are sad and some are happy. When we read them, we should remember that God is worth following, no matter what. We should also remember that Jesus is the king of everything!

International Stress Awareness Week
What’s something you wouldn’t talk to other people about? You might not talk about what you had for breakfast, because that might be a bit boring. You might not talk about your favourite song to sing in the shower, because that might be a bit odd.
You also might not talk to other people about stress! Perhaps that’s because you don’t know what stress is. Or maybe that’s because you’ve felt stressed before, but you’ve felt too embarrassed to talk about it. This International Stress Awareness Week, we want you to know that it’s brilliant to talk about stress!
Learning About Stress
International Stress Awareness Week begins on Monday (4 November). In the middle of the week, there’s also Stress Awareness Day (6 November)! International Stress Awareness Week is all about encouraging everyone to learn about what stress is and how it can be managed in our day-to-day lives.
What is Stress?
Picture this – there’s an egg in front of you. You press your hand down on the egg and because of all the pressure you’re putting on it, the egg cracks!
We can sometimes feel a bit like an egg that’s about to crack. When there’s lots of pressure in our lives and we’re going through diffcult times, we can feel as if we’re not able to cope. We can feel really worried. That feeling is called being stressed.
What Makes People Stressed?
There are so many things that can make people feel stressed. You might feel stressed…
At school! Perhaps you’ve had an argument with a friend or you’re being bullied. Maybe you’re not doing as well as you’d like in your lessons. These things can make you feel stressed!
At home! When sad things are happening at home, such as someone you love being unwell, that can make you feel stressed!
By what’s going on in the world! If you’re worried about bad things that are happening around you, then that can lead to you feeling stressed.
How Do I Know I’m Stressed?
When we’re in diffcult situations, something called the ight response kicks in. This means that we either ght our way out of the situation or run away from it. Normally, we’re not in fght or fight mode.
Stress causes humans to constantly be in fght or fight mode, which can actually make us feel ill. There are signs that you can notice that might show that you’re feeling stressed, such as…
Struggling to control your emotions.
Headaches or stomach aches.
Finding it hard to spend time with others.
Trouble sleeping.
Stress Relief
When you’re feeling stressed, you should…
enjoy, such as reading a book, listening to music or watching a flm.
Exercise! Just 60 minutes of activity a day can help to clear your thoughts and make you feel less stressed.
Be creative! You could write a story, draw a picture or play a musical instrument. Using your creative skills will help you to feel less stressed.
Eat healthily and try to get a good night’s sleep.
Talk to a grown-up that you trust, such as a parent, carer or teacher. You don’t need to keep how you’re feeling a secret!
For more ideas for how to deal with stress, check out youtube.com/watch?v=hnpQrMqDoqE
Help Others!
It’s great to know what to do when you’re feeling stressed, but it’s also fab to know how you can help others. You can…
Look out for signs of stress. If you think a friend might be feeling stressed, ask them if they’d like your help.
Listen to your friends. If they’re feeling stressed, they might want to talk about it. You can also encourage them to talk to a grown-up they trust.
Spend time with a stressed friend doing things that they enjoy, even if they’re not your favourite things to do!
If you’re feeling stressed, tell someone! It’s never silly to say that you’re stressed.
