SALYSÉ SALYSÉ Magazine is a photography magazine, featuring beauty, fashion, and conceptual art editorials. We do not seek to define beauty with one narrow idea, but with myriad viewpoints Vintage is right next to emerging designers, who are right next to established designers. We are looking for creatives who push the envelope, take chances, and disregard the status quo. SALYSÉ Magazine is about sophistication, authenticity, with a touch of eccentricity. ---------FOLLOW https://instagram.com/salysemagazine/ LIKE https://www.facebook.com/salysemagazine SUBSCRIBE http://issuu.com/salysemagazine PURCHASE http://www.magcloud.com/user/salysemagazine SUBMIT https://kavyar.com/salyse-magazine ---------Not just a magazine— a movement!

Letter from the Editor Dear Salysians, Blue. Classic Blue. It is my favorite color. I wanted to start the year off with something that made me happy! When I was thinking of themes for 2021, I was hoping the United States would turn blue! Although we did, I can honestly say that right now I am very scared about the state of our union. I hope that as we celebrate the inauguration of Joe Biden, the country will begin to heal before the fractures become too wide to overcome. I hope the pages of SALYSÉ bring just a little bit of joy to your day. As always, I hope you enjoy your escape! Be well. Be kind. Be patient. Hugs and Love, Sonya Alyse Lawyer SALYSÉ, Founder and Editor in Chief

Meet Photographer Piotr Rulka Hometown? I’m from Cracow (Poland), but currently living in London. How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. Ever since I can remember I had a great passion for technology and as a kid, I was very fascinated by those old button-phones and how their cameras were improving with every model. I remember I started taking more conscious photographs with one of my first smartphones and a few years later I decided to buy my first DSLR. Every morning before high school classes I would go for an hour walk around Cracow and take street photographs which later evolved into a whole project. Seeing that, my mom decided to sign me up for a photography course in Cracow and soon I found out that fashion is what I wanted to focus on, so I continued my studies abroad. Three adjectives to describe yourself. Creative, perfectionist and funny What do you enjoy the most about photography? There are many things I enjoy about photography but If I needed to pick one it would be this amazing feeling when I take the perfect shot. It is a very specific feeling and does not happen too often but when it does I know that I have ‘the shot’. I believe this motivating thrill is why I could never stop taking photographs. Favorite color? I used to always say it is blue but now I started to feel a bit tired of it so actually, I am not sure. Guess I will find out with my next few projects. Favorite food/drink? Obviously my mom’s ‘kotlety schabowe’ Editor’s Note: Breaded pork chops. Favorite movie? Blade Runner 2049 Favorite actor/actress? Steve Carell, I am a huge the office fan!

What’s your favorite quote? “A world is full of meaningless things – words and things mean what they mean as a result of the way that we look at them and use them. Making a photograph is a way of giving meaning.” – Richard Salkeld (Serious Answer) “Sometimes I will start a sentence and I don’t even know where it is going. I just hope I find it along the way.” – Micheal Scott (Funny Answer) If you had the opportunity to meet any photographer, living or dead, who would it be? Most definitely Nick Knight although, it very much scares me to meet my biggest idol. What is your favorite word? Least favorite? To be honest, I never thought about it, so I will go for some polish swear word as my favorite and any word in English that I cannot pronounce as my least favorite. What was the last picture you took with your phone? A photo of a single croissant laying on Lidl’s floor. If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you want to have seen? There is this scene of aliens landing on earth in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, I would love to see something like that happening in real life. Guilty Pleasure? UK Sainsbury’s has this Belgian White Chocolate & Raspberry Cookie and sometimes I eat the whole 4 pack by myself, so that is my real guilty pleasure. Last show you binge-watched? I watched all three seasons of Dark in three days last summer. Last book you read? The Witcher Tower of the Swallow. I am a huge The Witcher fan!
----------
What country would you love to shoot in? I am obsessed with Blade Runner so naturally, my dream is to do a shoot in Tokyo, Japan.
