Meet Model Devran Perkins How did you get started modeling? Tell us about yourself. I moved to D.C. about three years ago, and I began a serving job and a lot of my tables kept asking if I was a model and I felt bad for telling them I wasn’t one. So I started doing research of the industry and became fond of the idea of modeling and the creativity within the fashion industry. Before modeling, I was a collegiate athlete playing soccer and that was pretty much my life. Three adjectives to describe yourself. I would have to say high spirited, hard working and personable. What do you enjoy the most about modeling? I really enjoy the creativity of modeling. Nothing is ever a bad idea. Also, networking and meeting so many people is great. Just talking with them about their experiences is amazing, especially those who have been in the industry for awhile. What do you not enjoy about modeling? I don’t really enjoy the stigma that comes with modeling. Being a model is fun, but it is not this overly glamorous life right from the start. It’s like any other job where you have to be professional, work your way up, and hold yourself to a high standard. Favorite color? Blue Favorite food? Halo Top ice cream, I could eat it everyday. What designer would you love to model/walk for? Why? Calvin Klein because I love their clothing.

What photographer would you love to shoot with? Why? Brian Jamie I really enjoy the aesthetic of his pictures. Speak it into existence, where do you see yourself in 5 years? In five year I will have hopefully started my acting career, hopefully landing some small roles but certainly making some noise to become a well known actor some day. Dream vacation you would like to take (or have taken)? I really want to go to a remote area in the Bahamas, somewhere quiet and peaceful. Your zodiac sign? Aries Favorite superhero? Why? Deadpool because he is somewhat of a smart-aleck which is funny. What person, living or dead, do you admire the most? Why? Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, he’s such an inspiration and has the drive that I want to achieve one day. He is the perfect example that hard work beats talent any day of the week. What’s your favorite quote? My favorite quote is a bar from Russ’s new album, There’s Really A Wolf, and the line goes “rather deal with oh well than what if” which really spoke to me, sometimes it is easy to just stay safe and do something because it’s easy and give up on a dream. I didn’t want to be stuck doing something because I was too scared to try something, if I fail then that’s better than not trying at all.
What’s your theme song? “Congratulations” by Post Malone. What is your favorite body part? Eyes What do you do when you are not modeling? Working at my serving job still, school, and hang out with family. Favorite movie? Stepbrothers, I can quote the whole movie. Favorite actor/actress? Favorite actor is Will Ferrell. Your idea of happiness and/or your idea of misery? My idea of happiness is cliché but doing something your passionate about and my idea of misery is being one of those people who just follows the assembly line of life working somewhere they have no passion for. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Learning languages. Guilty Pleasure? I like getting under people’s skin and learning what makes them tick. Last show you binge-watched? Meet Wardrobe Stylist Dejeune H. How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. It started from a little girl dressing her Barbies at 4, to dressing herself, and then family and friends. By 17, I was working at Banana Republic. At 18, I landed a job at Hush Boutique. I then went to study fashion in Miami at Johnson & Wales University.
What’s your theme song? “Too Much Sauce” by 21 Savage

What fashion trend do you wish would die a slow, painful death? Acid wash anything
What do you enjoy the most about being a fashion stylist? That I get to tell a story without words and paint a picture without paint. Making a nonliving thing come to life. What do you not enjoy about being a fashion stylist? The attitudes that must be tolerated. But it’s not a big deal on my list. Favorite designer? Why? Marc Jacobs because he always gets it. Favorite color? Cognac Brown Favorite food/drink? Pizza & Cupcake Moscato What person, living or dead, would you love to style for? What would you do? Beyonce. I would dress her in couture streetwear. Speak it into existence, where do you see yourself in 5 years? Being a full time stylist for a publication and a steady clientele and still making it to PTA meetings. What is your idea of perfect happiness? Great health, not checking price tags, or needing alarm clocks. Basically, a permanent vacation. Your zodiac sign? Virgo What zodiac sign do you get along with the most? Meet Photographer Dior Davis How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. I got started with photography as a young boy. Going to CVS, Best Buy, etc. to purchase disposable cameras. I would captures things like: family, friends, nature, basically whatever I could take a picture of that caught my eye. I really began to be passionate about photography in 9th grade. As I was in photography class and we made a camera using a shoe box, black construction paper, tape, glue, and blank photo paper to develop our images. After I discovered that, I was sold on photography. Three adjectives to describe yourself. Three adjectives that describe me would be Devoted, Artistic, and Passionate.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? I believe I found my perfect happiness in photography. I have no boundaries on what I can create. Your zodiac sign? I am a Gemini. What’s your favorite quote? My favorite quote is: “Do what you Love.” Dream vacation you would like to take (or have taken)? My dream vacation would definitely have to be Paris. What’s your theme song? One of my theme songs would have to be “Skyfall” by Adele.
What do you enjoy the most about photography? What I enjoy most about photography is being able to make someone happy and smile with a single image, and being able to tell a story with one image.
If you had the opportunity to meet any photographer, living or dead, who would it be? If I had the opportunity to meet any photographer, living or dead, then it would have to be Nigel Barker. He definitely is one of my inspirations.
What do you not enjoy about photography? I don’t really have anything about photography I do not enjoy. I love what I do.
Favorite movie? One of my favorite movies would have to be Pineapple Express.
Favorite color? My favorite color is blue. Favorite food/drink? My favorite food is pepperoni pizza. What person, living or dead, would you love to photograph? If I had the chance to photograph someone living or dead would have to be singer/actress Aaliyah. Now someone living, it would be actress/ singer Ryan Destiny because she is so fierce. What country would you love to shoot in? I would love to travel to France to shoot.
Favorite actor/actress? One of my favorite actors would have to be Denzel Washington, The passion and emotion he puts in to his roles are outstanding. Favorite superhero? Why? I honestly do not have a favorite superhero. Welcome to my boring life lol. If I had to pick someone, then it would be my mom. She is so dedicated to her family and such a strong woman. I have to give her all her props, and they are definitely due. Last show you binge-watched? Last show I binge-watched would be Workaholics.
What is your favorite word? Least favorite? Honestly, I do not have a favorite word but my least favorite is “urban.” Especially, when models are describing themselves as “Urban Model” I honestly do not know what that is lol. What was the last picture you took with your phone? The last picture I took with my phone was of my friend’s dog Brooklyn. She hates cameras 200% but I still managed to get a great shot. If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you want to have seen? I personally would have loved to witness Martin Luther King in action. He was a man with so much ambition and dedication to change. Guilty Pleasure? One of my guilty pleasures would have to be Sugar. I love sugar. I know it’s not good, but, let me tell you that sugar has definitely gotten me through shoots being exhausted. Last book you read? The last book I read would have to be Necessary Evil by Kareem Hayes. Very great book. Anything else you want the readers to know about you. I am very passionate about my craft. I am a very humble individual. I’m all for helping others but they must show that they are dedicated to what ever they chose to pursue. A lot of people ask what type of photographer am I. My answer to that question is I’m a photographer period. I do not box myself in to one genre. I am a creative so I just create if it makes sense.
