Meet Model Mearg Tearke (Magi) Hometown: Fairfax, Virginia How did you get started modeling? Tell us about yourself. I spent most of my childhood in a small village called ADWA, Ethiopia, and one of my favorite things to do was dressing up in traditional costumes and to take as many pictures as I can. When I grow up I started to look at some of the pictures of Ethiopian supermodels (like Liya Kebede), and Somalian supermodel, Iman. My wish was, I hoped someday I would be like them and inspire little girls with dreams. When I moved to the USA in 2011, I graduated from Johns Casablancas modeling and acting in Baltimore, and I started to meet fashion inspired people and work with them. Meet Makeup Artist Kat Aragon Hometown: Just outside of Washington, DC How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. I joke I was the accidental makeup artist. I went to school to become an esthetician and because of that my mom enlisted me to provide makeup for our family salon clients. I hardly learned about makeup technique in school, only about sanitation, so I was apprehensive about doing the appointments. This lead me to develop an esthetic of only doing what was necessary to elevate someone’s look and adding fun details here and there. This became my bread and butter with my celebrity client agency as client’s liked that they looked like better versions of themselves but not overdone. Three adjectives to describe yourself. Laid back, silly, #NICEgal What do you enjoy the most about being a MUA? Empowering women by showing them it does not take much to feel like their best self. What do you not enjoy about being a MUA? Cleaning and reorganizing my kit after each job. Other than yourself, favorite make up artist? Why? Lottie. She stays true to her esthetic of clean beauty while still bringing her work to new levels of creativity. Favorite color? Rose Gold Favorite food/drink? Korean BBQ and Bubble Tea! What’s your favorite quote? “Live less out of habit and more out of intent.” -Unknown

What person, living or dead, would you love to work with? My teen children. What would you create? Hopefully, something up to their makeup loving standards. Haha! No, seriously, they are amazing at doing their makeup. I’m in awe and joke with them frequently they need to teach me their tricks.

What product is in your kit that you can not live without? LimeLife by Alcone Complete Concealer

Speak it into existence, where do you see yourself in 5 years? I will continue to travel around the world but my kids and husband will be with me more to experience the many different places my business takes me.

Favorite actor/actress? Anna Camp. Not only is she an awesome actress but one of the nicest I have met in person. She is super supportive and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Eating whatever I want without checking carbs first, oh, and living out my purpose. :D

Favorite movie? I’m not sure if it is really Crazy Rich Asians but I never get sick of the movie and have watched it with everyone I know lol!

Last book you read? Positive Intelligence by Shirzad Chamine Guilty Pleasure? Eating string cheese.

Your zodiac sign? Scorpio

Last show you binge-watched? The Good Place

Dream vacation you would like to take (or have taken)? I want to go to Hawaii one day if I could get my husband out of Disneyworld.

Anything else you want the readers to know about you. I’m so blessed to be able to work with my husband in this industry. I’m blessed to have the platform that I have to be able to help show women entrepreneurs all around how to follow their passion, and I am appreciative of being able to share this passion with others. Remember, it is all about the “give”, not about the “get”.

What’s your theme song? “Neverland” by Andy Mineo What makeup trend do you love? Clean fresh looks that don’t look too done. What makeup trend do you wish would die a slow, painful death? Too much contouring with gray pigment, super bright highlighter everywhere, and foundation in the wrong color. What’s the best/worst gift you’ve ever given/received? Best: Godiva Dark Chocolate covered strawberries (But that may be because I’m so hungry.)
