RESEARCH: HOMELESSNESS AND SELF-ESTEEM

According to research reports by Dr. Sean Kidd, who works at CAMH and specializes in marignality, self-esteem plays a critical role in the lives of homeless youth. His reports state that homeless youth who report low self-esteem will stay on the streets longerand are more likely to return to the streets later. He found that the top four factors that effect self esteem in homeless youth are privacy, autonomy, a sense of control, and public perception.
