Ampersand
An ampersand is a symbol that comes from the Latin word “et.” It is often used in the place of the word “and.” "And per say and" is the phrase from which the word “ampersand is derived from. Ampersands are everywhere- if you just look around. Companies use them in their logos, as seen in the four examples shown here. All were found on the corner of 33rd and Broadway.

Border
These ornate borders were showcased on the covers of books in a vintage book store I happened upon while visiting Bordeaux, France in the Fall of 2010. The use of borders is a common characteristic of illustrated manuscripts of the Medieval Period in history.
