Who & What? About EAP

EAP is quite a unique charity as we were set up through Leeds RAG society in 2009 by two students, Tom & Carla. EAP believe that every child, especially those whose lives are hard, should have somewhere for them to play and be children. By building playgrounds, we are able to give over 45,000 children access to an awesome playground each year. As well as this, we are able to run our playground building workshop where we train disadvantaged young adults to become welders, builders and play-workers. So far we have built 90 playgrounds in UgandaAll of this has only been possible due to the projects we run with RAG societies in the UK.

Support we provide

The support from RAG’s across the country has allowed EAP to grow into what it is today. With all UK members of staff as former RAG members, we understand how to work with and support RAGs of all sizes. When a RAG chooses to work with us we see it as a privilege. We have a support network here in the UK that is designed to help your RAG do the best job possible. We run a pre-term training course for all of our project leaders, have custom made promo, leaflets, flyers etc, provide T-shirts for the RAG, online material, facebook ads, we come to assist with info meetings and promo days, provide email lists and so much more. Our support goes beyond recruitment, fundraising, the set up and running’s of the projects. We also support individual development through our paid internships, ambassador roles and leader positions providing a whole host of opportunities for your RAG and students.

Mega Raids

We organise fantastic Mega raids in London and Manchester each year. These are our biggest UK events. Each year we invite all our Gorilla Trek and Volunteer students as well as a select number of other RAG’s to join in the fun. We provide basic accommodation for the students and base that day around having fun for charity.

Jailbreak

Jailbreak is a hitchhiking challenge that involves students travelling as far away from the Students Union as they can within a 36 hour period without spending any money on travel. Jailbreak will be the most awesome event of your RAG calendar!! It’s a great chance to travel and raise money for charity! Jailbreak is always one of the most popular events with students. It is a simple £20 sign up fee with a £50 fundraising target. Our relationship with our Jailbreak RAG’s often grow with their success and develop into working alongside them with our international projects also, as we are able to help and support their growth.
