Cara and Scott celebrated their special day with a country bohemian inspired affair coupled with a touch of vintage glamour. The allure of Cara’s vintage inspired gown was set against the rustic backdrop set the scene for a memorable and truly personal day. The couple both grew up in the country, so it was a natural decision to hold the event at Cara’s family home were she grew up in rural NSW.

ROMANCE

This fairytale romance began with a New Years Eve midnight kiss and after moving overseas and travelling independently, fate led them each to London, and the rest is history. To celebrate this remarkable start, the ceremony was on the 31st of December 2012 so the newly wedded couple could bring in 2013 and the next stage of their life together with family and friends.

An independent style blogger, Cara’s bridal style was based on her love of simple silhouettes and sparkling embellishments. Her Anna Sui Aiguille Gown from BHLDN exuded elegance and vintage glamour. Sheer fabric adorned with sequins, softly puffed sleeves and a split hem gave Cara a chic debonair 1930s look. Classic Jimmy Choo heels and SAMANTHA WILLS Couture Evenings earrings and Seven Sundays bracelet were worn to finish off her look. Cara complimented this 1930s look with the stunning Touch the Sky Headpiece also by SAMANTHA WILLS.

STYLE

Rather than having official attendants Cara chose two of her friends as ‘bridesmates’ who each spoke at the reception. Cara gifted each of these special friends with SAMANTHA WILLS earrings, with one wearing the beautiful SAMANTHA WILLS Pisco Sour earrings paired with her Dolce & Gabbana silk dress for the ceremony. For the bridal bouquet Cara used hydrangeas together with a handmade brooch, which had been created using brooches and cufflinks given to her by friends and family. This was Cara’s way of reviving accessories worn by incredible women in her life, her individual take on ‘something borrowed’.

The couple wanted their creativity to be boundless on the day and coupled elements of elegance and charm against exposed tin sheds and earthy tones. Eclectic handcrafted pieces accented the charming feel of the reception and hand grown blooms draped the alter where the couple pledged their self-written vows. The alter was actually constructed by the father of the bride and decorated by the mother of the bride, just another example of how this couple integrated family and friends into their styling for their day. The reception was then held in a shed in the front paddock of the property and was a celebration of community and family surrounding the unique day. The reception maintained the rustic charm of the day with covered bales of hay used not only as seating but were coupled with rustic timber sleepers to create the bar. Lit lanterns draped over tin walls and posies of flowers in an assortment of vases littered wine barrels giving the room a comfortable and warm feeling.
