BELINDA & RICHARD RUSTIC ROMANCE

rustic ROMANCE

For Belinda and Richard, the Queen’s Birthday public holiday in 2009 ended with an unexpected bent knee under a sparkling night sky peeking through the branches of a grand old fig tree. Sydney had lit itself up for the wildly romantic VIVID Festival, and earlier that night Belinda and Richard explored the city, walking hand in hand through streets where every previously shadowy corner or lacklustre surface was transformed. As vibrant colour swam over the city, Richard spotted his opportunity on a hilltop near the observatory, and pulled out the ring that he had been hiding for months, tucked up in his sock draw. Since the pair had eloped in 2010 amongst the heady exotic surroundings of Fiji, they choose to also hold a larger ceremony this year to renew their vows in front of family and friends. Belinda and Richard wanted the day to be the relaxed kind of celebration that would fully embrace and celebrate family. They made sure the service wholly suited their relationship, ensuring their daughter/stepdaughter would be an integral part of the ceremony by making special promises of love, sealed with an engraved locket and a kiss.

STYLE

Belinda chose to wear the Horizon Lace dress from the always romantic and ethereal bridal styles of Lover the Label, pared fittingly with elegant Prada shoes. Samantha Wills Aaliyah Earrings and Concordia of the Sun Ring brought a hint of natural bohemian style to complete the overall impression of relaxed glamour. For a rustic edge, the bouquets were made up of native wildflowers in a riot of purples, yellows and dusty rose. Belinda’s bridesmaid was swathed in a floaty Lisa Ho dress and the Samantha Wills Bohemian Bardot adorned her manicured hands.

INSPIRED

by

With visions of a home-style, beautiful and immersed-in-nature kind of celebration in mind, Belinda and Richard were inspired by the rustic charm of The Barn at Sydney’s Polo Club. The day had originally been planned as picnic-style, with blankets strewn around the garden outside The Barn, laden with hampers filled with food, drinks and party favours - as well as the odd insect repellent. Greeted with a flurry of unexpected rain, the event was moved indoors and picnic blankets were spread out as makeshift table cloths. Hampers and vintage suitcases dotted the tables as centrepieces while Pom Poms in muted, wildflower colours floated overhead. A vintage Photo Booth proved to be a big hit with the guests, and the day carried out perfectly amid the exposed beams and overall beauty of the venue, filled with native flowers and rustic hay bales bathed in natural light.

GET BELINDA’S STYLE HER SELECTIONS FOR THE RUSTIC BRIDE

The flower choice for the day was eclectic and unique staying true to the vintage styling of the day.

Strappy Prada shoes in nude completed the look, perfectly complimenting the dress while making an elegant statement.

Straying away from traditional bridal jewels, Belinda chose instead to compliment her style with the relaxed bohemian beauty of the Samantha Wills Aaliyah Earrings and the Concordia of the Sun Ring, both in luminous speckled Oatmeal with antique gold settings.

The Lover the Label Horizon lace dress fitted Belinda with a beautiful silhouette and created the picture of delicate and understated beauty.
