SUZY

naumovska MUM OF PR MANAGER BECC JOVANOVA (MUM TO BE) WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF BEING A MUM? SUZY: The smile on your baby’s face. (You

are basically in awe of every little thing your baby does.)

BECC: Some would argue that I’M not

a Mum yet, but given I have a beautiful active human growing in me since October last year, I disagree! So far the most rewarding aspect for me is knowing the big milestones she is achieving already, from growing her little fingers to learning to blink! Also experiencing her movements and understanding her patterns is the best feeling and what I look forward to at the end of each day. WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL ‘MUM STYLE’? SUZY: Try to be more relaxed in your

approach and not stress out over minute details.

BECC: In terms of fashion style, seriously

whatever fits and convenient enough to put on in the little minutes I will have! But as a ‘Mum style,’ I am hoping to be wellbalanced. It is in my nature to want to be her best friend and stress over everything for her, but I realise this is not something you could maintain long-term.

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN BY YOUR MUM? SUZY: Get your work done while your

baby is asleep. (Although my advice to my daughter would be to rest when the baby is resting to take time out.)

BECC: Well my mum kind of answered this

in her bracketed response, but in addition to this, Mum is good at reminding me that I am not a super-human. Not everything can be controlled and planned so I should just take each day as it comes.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT KEY QUALITIES DO YOU THINK MAKE UP A GOOD MUM? SUZY: Patience, thick skin, selflessness BECC: Everything from being organised,

self-less, ensuring, caring, patient, assertive, fair, to knowing when to be fun, creative & motivating.

richards ONE FINE COLLECTIVE, MUM TO MAX TELL US WHAT DOES MOTHER’S DAY MEAN TO YOU?

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF BEING A MUM?

Mother’s Day used to mean thanking my mum for being the best mum in the world but now with the birth of my little boy it has taken on a whole new meaning. I understand all the challenges my mum went through to raise my brother and I. All the love she gave us and the constant care that ensured we made it to be our own independent people. So now I look at Mother’s Day with a true and deep respect for my mum and to look at her and call her my friend.

The world doesn’t stop because you have a baby, so managing all the day to day duties + work + social on very little sleep is definitely a challenge.

IF YOU CAN GIVE SOME ADVICE TO FUTURE MUM-TO-BE’S WHAT WOULD IT BE?

To set aside work once your baby is born. Focus solely on your baby. I think that the older we have our first child the more set in our ways we already are. So when a new baby arrives your world is completely turned upside down and unless you are ready for it it is a huge shock to the system. It’s the most difficult yet rewarding period of time, especially those first 3 months, so my advice is don’t commit to doing anything else except for looking after your baby and family. You will notice how much calmer your baby is if you do. FOLLOW @onefinedayweddingfairs

ONE FINE COLLECTIVE, MUM TO HARRIET WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF BEING A MUM?

IF YOU CAN GIVE SOME ADVICE TO FUTURE MUM-TO-BE’S WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Where do I start? It overwhelms me that I am (currently) Harriets entire world and I am totally responsible for her. This also however, is the most rewarding thing. I’m there for all her firsts. First time seeing an elephant in real life after reading about

Read books, listen to everyones advice, google everything / anything you like but then do things your own way anyway. You know best. Trust yourself.

them in books for so long, first taste of chocolate at Easter time. Oh, and those little arms wrapped around me every morning when I get her out of bed is pretty special too!

LIST THREE MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR A MUM TO BE.

Baby wipes. They solve everything. Dry shampoo. Sometimes there’s just not enough hours in the day and hair washing loses out when it comes to the battle of sleep vs long shower. An amazing support network. Whether that’s a husband / partner / friend or family. You’ll always need to have someone there to call on. Even if it’s just to boast about your babes latest new trick!

LIST JUST ONE EXPERIENCE THAT YOU HAD WITH YOUR MUM THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER.

Planning my wedding, going overseas for the first time, my entire pregnancy and being a first time mum. So many things I would not have been able to do with out the support of my amazing mum!

commerford BLOGGER, CAPTAIN & THE GYPSY KID, MUM TO SUGAR & CAPTAIN WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST TREASURED MOMENT WITH YOUR BUB/CHILD SO FAR?

Every moment is the most treasured. The good and the bad. Mostly I just look at them taking mental photographs trying to embed them in my memory. The thought of not remembering the everyday at every age is terrifying to me. LIST JUST ONE EXPERIENCE THAT YOU HAD WITH YOUR MUM THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER.

There are so many and at the same time not enough. I love the memory of her when I was little coming into my room at night to comfort me when I was scared. Sitting on the edge of my bed holding me hand kissing my face and teaching me to count sheep to help me go to sleep. I remember asking her questions about those sheep which Im pretty sure are similar to the ones my daughter asks me now. I can smell, feel and hear that whole experience like it’s a part of me.

IF YOU CAN GIVE SOME ADVICE TO FUTURE MUM-TO-BE’S WHAT WOULD IT BE?

If anyone starts to tell you horror stories about their first birth, walk away. I’ve never been able to understand why another women would want to scare another in this way. If your about to become a mother I can’t tell you how happy I am for you. You are about to become very tired and deliriously euphoric at the same time. The best feeling in the world.

BLOGGER, NOT SO MUMSY, MUM TO ARCHIE SO TELL US, WHAT DOES MOTHER’S DAY MEAN TO YOU?

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST TREASURED MOMENT WITH YOUR BUB/CHILD SO FAR?

It’s a celebration of all mothers, everywhere. A reminder to stop, take a moment and say, “yeah I’m doing alright in this gig… and maybe somebody does notice!” For me, it’s also a day to show my mum just how appreciated she is.

Without a doubt the moment I finally brought Archie home from hospital. He had emergency surgery at two days old and a bumpy three week recovery at Sydney Children’s Hospital. As we snuggled on the couch, the utter relief that flooded my body was indescribable. After weeks of barely being able to hold him, he was finally where he belonged. We slept like this for hours and I’ve slept with him every night since.

WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL ‘MUM STYLE’?

It’s a slightly more relaxed version of my pre-mum style, it hasn’t changed that much. My wardrobe is mostly monochrome and denim with pops of colour & a touch of leopard. I have a few designer “investment” pieces that I mix with high

NIKKI

parkinson BLOGGER, STYLING YOU, MUM TO ALEX, BEN & FLYNN WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN BY YOUR MUM?

I grew up with two mums - my mum and step-mum. Both have shaped me. Not so much in what they dished out in terms of advice but more in the way they were role models for me as women carving out successful careers while being parents. WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF BEING A MUM?

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST TREASURED MOMENT WITH YOUR BUB/CHILD SO FAR?

I think there are challenges in each stage as kids grow up. I guess the biggest challenge is being able to change your parenting style and skill set to meet each stage. I have only one at home now and the challenge with my elder two has been to let go and let them live their own lives and make their own choices. You do this knowing that you’ve done the ground work leading up to them leaving home so hopefully those choices are good ones.

There have been so many moments over the years. Our last family holiday together was probably the most memorable. It was just before my eldest was heading off to uni so a milestone moment and I kind of knew it would be the last time they’d be keen to travel with us. We booked and surprised them with a family week in Bali as a Christmas present. They had no idea until they opened their tickets and some spending money on Christmas Day.
