Richard Davison “New Landscapes”
Camille and Debra Samara are honored to present New Landscapes, a solo exhibition by Richard Davison. The paintings in this exhibition are inspired by artists who were essentially regionalists. The work of Samuel Palmer, Camille Corot, Claude Monet, Charles Burchfield, and others was such that, while their work was certainly innovative in the landscape genre, it never stopped being about the beauty “in their own back yards.” Similarly, while the paintings here attempt to be “transportive”; to convey a sense of the visionary by virtue of their scale and color, etc., they are also images of central Texas; stock ponds and yaupons. Davison’s work has been featured in exhibits at the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Amarillo Arts Center, the Austin Museum of Art and the El Paso Museum. It is also part of permanent collections at the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Art Museum of South Texas (Corpus Christi), Arkansas Arts Center, Baylor University and the Frito Lay Corporation.
