ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to propose an initiative of urban redevelopment in an area that was negatively impacted by the environmental degradation, resulting from undue actions such as environmental accidents, introduction of large infrastructures in the vicinity of the site, which did not have due concern the natural space, besides to problems with sewage eviction in the region's water bodies.

Additionally, seeks to show the positive aspects that this initiative can bring, such as the improvement in quality of life of the locals, taking into consideration the physical, social, economical and environmental aspects of the area. Also, looking to propose a project that seeks to restore the leisure, well being, historic and cultural memory of Sepetiba neighborhood, located in Rio de Janeiro, which has been deeply affected by irresponsible actions during the recent years.
