Bomoseen, Vermont is an unincorporated village in the town of Castleton in Rutland, County, Vermont. The village is located along VT Route 30 and is 11.5 miles west of Rutland. Bomoseen runs along the eastern shore of Bomoseen Lake. The lake brings in a significant population, there are about 1,000 residences. Lake Bomoseen is the largest lake whose boundaries are entirely within the state and attracts a wide range of people during the summer: boating, fishing, swimming and summer camps are all popular. Lake Bomoseen is home to growing populations of osprey and bald eagles. Both birds have had growing sightings in recent years after years of devestation by pesticides in the 1950's and 60's.
