Unincorporated communities are regions of land that do not have their own government

Gilman, Vermont is an unincorporated community in the town of Lunenburg in Essex County, Vermont. Gilman exists on the Connecticut River and is very close to New Hampshire. Gilman is a mill community. The Gilman Dam resides on the river along with the Dirigo Paper Company Mill. From 1963 to 1981 there was a small ski hill with a tow called the Gilman Vermont Tow. The tow operated on Baptist Hill Road and was constructed by volunteers, it was a welcome addition to the community and they hosted an annual Winter Carnival. In current day you can cross into New Hampshire from Gilman which is mostly residential but has several small parks that can be visited.
