Lewiston, Vermont is an unincorporated former village in the town of Norwich in Windsor County, Vermont. Founded in 1765 and later named after Dr. Joseph Lewis who live in town, the village was centered on a rail station that was used by both Vermont and New Hampshire. The rail station made Lewiston an important area, especially with the proximity of Dartmouth College who used coal transported by the rail to heat its buildings. By 1930 Dartmouth had begun using oil and most mills in the area were gone. In 1950, the Wilder Dam was constructed downstream flooding low lying farmland and in 1967 almost the entire village was razed to make Interstate 91. Only the railroad, a Dartmouth owned pottery studio and a few other buildings remain.
