INITIAL SKETCHING

Our initial sketches led to a design incorperating the ‘bubble’ inflate system and the ‘spikes’ We decided to have spikes that cascaded over the circular inflates

NEXT STEPS

We included the idea of having the spikes roll down the back of the wearer forming an external spine We wanted the parts to move in a way that was quite dynamic and simbolised the idea of ‘keeping your guard up’ Thus, we came up with the concept of the balls inflating and raising up the spikes

PROTOTYPE MODEL

We attached the spiked pieces to an inflatable ball The first picture shows the ball deflated and the spikes laying flat As we can see when the ball is inflated the spikes are pushed upwards creating the effect we wanted
